In last week installed CFS2 for first time on Win7 x64 since 2007. Looking for advise on how to move AIRCRAFT and other folders to a different drive. When starting CFS2 screen is black, need to run in windowed mode so can access menu/view/cockpit to correct at every start. Looking into purchasing FFBVert to get MS Sidewinder Force Feedback Pro usable: http://www.iowajohnsons.com/FFBVert/FFBVert.html

Hello swagler, welcome to the CFS2 forum. The cfs2.exe is not registry dependent so you can just copy and paste the entire combat flight simulator 2 folder to any place in your file system you chose including different drives, it will still work.
You will of course need to adjust any short cuts accordingly. The installer will write a couple of registry keys which helps other programs and micro$oft spyware find CFS2 but you can use regedit to find the keys and adjust/remove them as you wish.
CFS2.exe requires permission to write to its config files so it needs to be run in compatibility mode as win xp sp3.
I don't know weather FFBVert will work at getting the force feed back working, I have not had any force feedback work with CFS2 since I moved on from windows XP, I think that might be a DirectX issue. Do let us know if you have any success with the FFBVert module.

I dual-boot XP sp3 and Win7 x64. If you can still find one in good condition, the Logitech Force 3D Pro gives you FFB in CFS2 in both operating systems without the fuss of specialized hardware or other tweaks.

Thanks guys. How about why CFS2 start flying screen is black, needing to windowed mode menu to set view to cockpit? Is there a CFG setting I need to change.

I right-click the icon & run in XP compatibility mode, & also as Admin. Maybe that could help?
