View Full Version : Adding DSD Sounds to FR DC4

I'm interested to see if the DSD callout sounds could be used in FR DC4? Where the decent altitudes are called out,
Also would like to see how a brake sound could be added.

Thanks.

Brake sound? As in brake squeal as you come to a stop?

That's it - as in squeeeeeak.....:adoration:
Just like in the B50 brakes squeak sounds...

oh and your voodoo tire smoke works great in the DC4 too.
Thanks :encouragement:

Would llike to get some wing and engine camera views too.

There is a "squeaky" brake gauge that I use on all my propliners in FS9. I think it came from Calclassic but not sure. Don't know if it will work in FSX.

In FSX I used A2A's Accu-Feel to add such effects to all my aircraft. Great investment.

Well, Sir, if you like to experiment..try copying the DSDSounds folder, B50 folder and the B50_dsd_fsx_xml_sound.gau from the B-50 panel folder and place them into your DC4 panel folder. Then place gaugeXX=B50_dsd_fsx_xml_sound!Sound, 2,2,2,2,/DSDSounds/B50sounds.ini into your [Vcockpit] section of the panel.cfg giving the red Xs the next number in sequence.

That's where the B-50 gets the squealy brakes and altitude descents from.

I did say this is experimental and no guarantees of it working.:dizzy:

That's an excellent alternative! I also have the appropriate squeaky brakes gauge and sound files in my Main Gauges folder for use in any aircraft I want to install that feature to.

Charlie,
I'd be interested in where I can get a copy of what you have there. Don't know how Manfred added his brake squeal sound to his B50.

Here are some engne/wing views I'd like to add to the camera views section of the DC4 but don't have the data to add it.

Manfred added the brake squeal using all of the things I listed in post#6 Do you have any other older prop aircraft that have squeaky brakes? You will need this list of things:

1. Squeaking brakes_sound.gau

2. dsd_xml_sound3.gau

Both of these gauges go into FSX/Gauges folder

1. Squeaking Brakes folder with files SB01_Brakes.wav and Sound.ini inside of it placed into FSX Sound folder.

2. gaugexx=squeaking brakes!BrakeSound, 0,0,20,20
gaugexx=squeaking brakes_Sound!dsd_xml_sound3, 0,0,20,18,./sound/squeaking brakes/Sound.ini (This need to be placed in the [VCockpit] section of the panel.cfg using the next appropriate gauge numbers in sequence).

Ya know, just looking at the patch of that gauge gives me pause. It's pointing to B50_dsd_fsx_xml_sound - so where is that at or suppose to go.
Maybe you could redo your directions on what to put where - and the gauge xx is one long continuous string of stuff.

Sorry, that gauge is for FSX and will not work in P3D. Manfred's gauge is for P3D Ver 4.

Sorry, again, because I get confused when you ask for P3D stuff in the FSX forum....My fault:very_drunk:

Yeah but in P3D V3.4 I can hear the brakes and flaps set and landing callouts - I've merged the B29 stuff with that B50 but still have DSD sounds. :engel016:
I'm using B50_dsd_fsx_xml_sound.gau for the B50 in P3D V3.4

as you can see

//gauge47=B50_dsd_P3Dv4_xml_x64_sound!Sound, 1,1,1,1,/DSDSounds/B50sounds.ini >>>> I nulled out this one as it is for P3D V4.

Nonworking custom sounds and error messages are a result of effed up paths, not incompatible modules.

gauge46=B50_dsd_fsx_xml_sound!Sound, 2,2,2,2,/DSDSounds/B50sounds.ini

"/DSDSounds/B50sounds.ini" points to a folder called "DSDSounds" containing "B50Sounds.ini" LOCATED IN THE SAME FOLDER THAT B50_dsd_fsx_xml_sound.gau IS IN

Paths with a dot (./[etc]) in front are relative to FSX/P3D's root folder.

Same for the paths to the .wav files specified in the .ini. No dot: Relative to the folder that the .ini file is located in. Dot: Relative to the FSX/P3D main folder.

The sound gauge is happiest if the segments of the route description links to the destination, i.e. the .wav file. So make sure that the sound files and associated folders are actually present when the gauge is calling them.

Don't have the B50, so I don't know the contents of the .ini file.

And y'all should read the documentation for Doug's XML sound gauge (contained in the download for the base gauge).

And make sure that you find and install the XML gauge controlling the brake sounds as well.

Hi,

I can't help you with merging these sounds into other aircraft (I have none of the above aircraft), but if your problem is the "configfile not found" as in the picture:
I know there have been some path-finding problems with older versions of Dougs XMLsound gauge in P3Dv3.*

What I suggest you try:

1. From Dougs website ( https://www.douglassdawson.ca/ ) download the file dsd_fsx_xml_sound.zip.
This (now) latest version V5.2.5 works for FS9, FSX and all 32-bit P3D versions upto 3.*

There are many ways to place the gauge, the used ini file and its referenced wav files (see included README), but the simplest and most "typo-error-friendly" way is this:
(and making it independant of all other aircraft/utility installs)

2. Copy the file dsd_fsx_xml_sound.gau from the zipfile into the folder ..../"youraircraft"/Sound/

3. Copy the .ini file you are using to the same folder
..../"youraircraft"/Sound/
, and rename it to dsd_fsx_xml_sound.ini

4. In the panel.cfg of your aircraft, use the definition :

gauge46=../sound/dsd_fsx_xml_sound!Sound, 0,0

This makes FSX/P3D use the gauge .../"youraircraft"/Sound/dsd_fsx_xml_sound.gau AND use (by default) the .ini file .../"youraircraft"/Sound/dsd_fsx_xml_sound.ini

5. Copy all .wav files referenced in the .ini file to folder
..../"youraircraft"/Sound/

6. Edit the .ini file (eg with Notepad), so all path-file references to the .wav files look like:

Sound**="filename".wav, ...

This makes the XML sound gauge find all the referenced "filename".wav file in the same
..../"youraircraft"/Sound/
folder as the gauge and the ini file themselves.

As said, there are many other ways of doing it, but this is (IMO) the simplest way to avoid path-finding problems.
AND makes it independant of other aircraft installs or gauge/ini file/sound file versions, if you ever decide to delete other aircraft, sound-folders etc ...
Of course, at the expence of file duplication.

Rob
