Hi all this always happens when i start firing, also some times the aircraft around also appear to stutter periodically.
This only with the latest Ankors Shaders by the Major, everything else works fine.
Any clues?

Which aircraft does this happen with? Sometimes if an aircraft carries multiple types of guns and each has its own sound, there can be some sound stuttering depending on your system.

yes, if some files are lagging, its worth listing them in the preload.xml file.

Could you give me an example please.
Spitfire Mk5b and Mk1a are the two so far.
thanks,
Alcanallen.

Gidday Alcanallen, I haven't put in sound entries myself, but IIRC gecko has done some recently. Take a look at the Typhoon package or the Spit VII/VIII package, and there should be a preload.xml file showing how the sound entries are installed.

I would have thought that you just put the wav file in the list - so in normal preload there is a list of "....dds" texture files, and below that you could add "SJ_303Browning etc.wav", whatever the internal file is used for the guns that are stuttering.

NB: if you are in the cockpit you would select the internals wav files for the list, if you are observing the aircraft from an external viewpoint then add the external gun sound wav files to the list.

You can see which are external and internal sounds by looking at the sounds.xml file. For each gun, there is usually an "int" sound parameter and an "ext" sound parameter, for guns in flyable aircraft.

I think it`s frame rate related as it works just fine without Ankors Shaders,no problem whatsoever;

I don't see it happening on my system, so it's hard to diagnose the cause.

Does it happen the same when you fire only mgs, only cannons, or both together?

Does it only happen the first time you shoot, or repeatedly?

Are you seeing all the related effects (muzzle flash, tracers, smoke, shell casings)?

What doe the FPS counter show?

Do you hear a pause in the engine sound too, or just the guns?

Is it selective to only particular models, or every aircraft?

The stutter first happens when the guns first fire then is normal all the tracers etc are working but when flying in cloud with flack bursts around the sim stutters and it`s like one frame at a time it gets very jerky,i don`t know where to see frame rates on this sim,if i can overcome this it would be great.

The Z key will bring up FPS along with other game data.

It sounds like your stuttering is related to either playing the gun / explosion sounds, or displaying the effects animations. Either one should only be a problem the first time it plays because the game then keeps it in memory for instant re-access. In any event, I can't imagine why the shader package would change anything about your disc access speeds.

As an experiment you could set UseRenderThreads=1 to UseRenderThreads=0 in the d3d8.ini to see if it's a processor compatibility issue.

Iv`e used the z key but never looked for FPS rates, what gets me is the sim works just great without shaders.

Hi there,i turned off UseRenderThreads=0 and checked the FPS,running at 60 fps but when engaging enemy the stutter starts and fps drops to around 13,it`s a bit disappointing really.

Well that`s that, back to good old standard CfS,and all`s well,Frame rates are constant at 60 fps but will have to live with the square passing clouds, thanks for your`e efforts, perhaps a solution will be found.
