Just gone in. Polish, Norwegian, Czech, French and American. Nine aircraft in all. and a new cockpit, specially modified from the Mk VIII. That is new with this upload; the previous upload used the Mk VIII cockpit directly.

As much as it is a war machine made for killing people, MH353 looks extraordinarily adorable with those red and white bands around the cannon fairings. God is in the detail.

A new entry has been added to Add-Ons Library, category CFS 3 British Aircraft

Description: Early production models, Allied Forces 1% - 4GB Spitfire F.MkIXc (Merlin 61 and 63) Allied and Free Forces, Great Britain.

Spitfire Mk IXC BR640 MV-D (Merlin 61) Plt Off Charles A. Cook, No.133 Eagle Squadron RAF - No.366 Fighter Squadron USAAF, Great Sampford, 26th September 1942. (2 versions)

Spitfire Mk IXC BS126 NN-Z (Merlin 61) Flt Sgt Josef Prokopec, No.310 (Czech) Sqn RAF, North Weald, September 1944.

Spitfire Mk IXC BS143 FN-N (Merlin 61) No.331 (Norwegian) Sqn RAF, 16-08-1942 - 29-11-1942, North Weald and Manston.

Spitfire Mk IXC BS456 UZ-Z (Merlin 61) Flt Lt Jozef Zulikowski, No.306 (Torunski Polish) Sqn RAF, Northolt, late 1942.

Spitfire Mk IXC BS458 DU-F Turf Club 2 (Merlin 61) 2Lt A.C. Gaydos USAAF, No.312 (Czech) Sqn RAF, Bradwell Bay, late 1944.

Spitfire Mk IXC BS548 GW-B (Merlin 61) No.340 (Ile de France) Sqn RAF, Biggin Hill, November 1942.

Spitfire Mk IXC EN172 RF-J (Merlin 61) No.303 (Kosciuszko Polish) Sqn RAF, Northolt, Summer 1943.

Spitfire Mk IXc MH323 WX-K (Merlin 63) Flg Offs Franciszek Wiza and Erazm Wardzinski, No.302 (Poznanski Polish) Squadron RAF, Northolt, late 1943.

The Spitfire MkIX was introduced in the early summer of 1942, and scored its first kill in the hands of Flt Lt Donald Kingaby of No.64 Squadron on 30th July 1942 over Boulogne in Northern France - an FW190, precisely the aircraft the MkIX had been developed to counter.

The MkIX went on to become the backbone of RAF Fighter Command, and was supplied both during and after the War to numerous countries. The new engine used a two-stage supercharger to increase power especially at higher altitudes; where the Spitfire MkVs Merlin 45 would produce only 750 hp at 30,000 feet, the new Merlin 61 produced 1020. This engine was developed further into a number of specialised versions with improved performance at all levels.

Aircraft fitted with the Merlin Mk.61 or 63 were widely referred to within the RAF as the Spitfire Mk.IXA. This has nothing whatsoever to do with the armament fit and served only to distinguish it from the later LF.MkIX, or Spitfire Mk.IXB.

Bear in mind that the vast majority of Spitfires were not assigned to individual pilots and were therefore used as needed according to availability. This means that very few aircraft bore any personal markings or artwork of any sort, and those few which did tended to be those used by flight leaders or above. The typical working Spitfire did not carry personalised artwork.

Really nice job but i don`t want to be critical but the prop seems to rotate constantly at all throttle settings, the other Spits etc have different appearances at different speeds see Attached picshttp://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/attachment.php?attachmentid=54857&stc=1http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/attachment.php?attachmentid=54858&stc=1http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/attachment.php?attachmentid=54859&stc=1http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/attachment.php?attachmentid=54860&stc=1 you can actually see the blades through the perspex at different speeds.
Can this be altered?

ps love the new cockpit.

Something funny seems to have happened to your cockpit. Have you got all the shared files, etc? I suspect that may be a part of the problem.

gecko
October 15th, 2017, 04:43
Looks like some files are missing, but I think he means the actual prop blur texture, which if you look at Nigel's pics, clearly has all four blades blurred but still distinct. I'm retry sure all the Zuyaks Spitsmare like that. A new fully blurred prop texture would fix this. In real life with the naked eye you can barely see a spinning propeller.

hard to tell but I think he's missing the blurred prop texture "3gb_Spitfire9C_F_xxx_Prop.dds"

Why would you want to past it to the VIII, this pit is based off the VIII pit?

Quite a good question, especially as the only difference (at least that I know of) is the lack of the tailwheel indicator light on the IX as there's naturally nothing to indicate. But to answer the question - yes it can.

An improved Mk.VIII cockpit is being readied for release which will fix an issue with some parts being too reflective. It will be identical to the Mk.IX cockpit with the exception of the tailwheel light as mentioned above. It will use all the same files, as does the current Mk.VIII, so there shouldn't be any need to copy the Mk.IX cockpit over.

These are RAF UK and North-West Europe LF.MkIXc aircraft, so the second type of MkIX, optimised for performance at lower levels than the F.MkIX, in order to take on the FW190 at its best altitude. The LF.MkIX went on to become the standard production model.

You get 8 LF.MkIXs with the type-specific flight dynamics, and one more F.MkIX which deserved to get into the package as well. One or two rather unusual ones here...

Hi Nigel, these look great :medals:.

Do these models incorporate some of the effects and cockpit damage developed by Daniel for the Mk VIII?

There were also new gun xdps and tracers. I see Daniel is credited for some stuff.

No, not really - Daniel is one of the people who worked on the cockpit, which is the one from the Mk VIII with one small modification to remove the tailwheel light and solve the specular problem. But otherwise we haven't tried to incorporate any of the effects or guns, simply because it was already getting complicated! The guns do have their own specific sounds though, which mean (if they ever work, which is another thing) that unless we modified those from the Mk VIII, we had to start with the AvH originals.

Unfortunately the cockpit effects cannot be added without adding emitters to the external model, which can't be done without a gmax source.
