...visually! I need a name for the animated part, an attachpoint. Where can I find it? I searched to no avail yet.

I'm assuming that you are building for FSX Cees, in which case there a lot of catapult attach point names in the FSX SDK. Try looking under 'Environment Kit/Modelling SDK/Attach Point Names'.
Here's the list I just found:

Hi Larry,
I have that list and I use it . It works. It's the visual part, the clamp that pulls the plane forward that I must name and animate. I'm searching for that. That's something different than what you are referring to. Thanks anyway mate, appreciate it!

Which sim are you modelling for Cees?
FS2004 (and earlier) required that you used specific names for parts in order for their 'canned' animations to work but FSX has no such limitations. You could name the clamp 'plane_launcher_doohickey' if you wanted to and it wouldn't make any difference. The visual animation in the modelling program doesn't have anything to do with part names either.
It's only when you come to 'tag' the animation using the Aces Tools 'Animation Manager' that you have to use the correct terminology and code title.

Cees, I'm not sure but I think that's all there is. You just mark the start and end of each catapult and it works.
