Does anyone here have this model? Without getting hateful, I'm curious of the model quality.
Thanks.

Rob,
The best Wildcat out there is the JustFlight's Wildcat & Martlet package. I know how wonderful you are at painting WWII Navy Fighters...

Thanks Mustang, but I thought the Just Flight Wildcat was FSX only.

Brian, it is FSX only. I would avoid the Abacus one, I got it as part of 'WWII carrier operations' by them, got removed instantly, the carriers stayed though. For the best FS9 Wildkitty, good old Gramps is your best bet.

Thanks Jamie, that's what I thought. I wondered if the Abacus one was any good since it's only $10.00. Thanks for the info and the link to Gramps planes, I will download them.:very_drunk:

I'll load her back up later and take some screenies for you, so you can make up your own mind. If you did want her, save yourself the $10 and look on Amazon or ebay for 'Carrier operations collection' by Abacus, includes 3 packages, carrier ops, vietnam carrier ops and WWII carrier ops. I got mine for £0.01 plus about £2 postage. I only really wanted more carriers in my FS9s.

BTW the carrier ops package, one of the three, is otherwise known as Flight Deck 3.

It's not quite as bad as I remember actually, just remember it is Abacus though. It's kinda on a par with the Overhauled CFS2 stocker.

Many years ago, a friend and I noticed one of Abacus' planes uploaded to Flightsim. As a thank-you for alerting them, we were given a free download of one plane. I don't remember which one I picked, but I do remember thinking that at least I got my money's worth... The only thing I'd ever trust from them is the stuff that Brian Gladden did. As I remember, it was essentially his freeware stuff that was redone with improvements commissioned by Abacus.

The Wilcat is by Massimo Taccoli (http://www.maxtac.it/maxtac-en/), click his name to visit his website, his models are nice. This Wildcat is of FS2002 vintage so bear that in mind.

I have an Abacus model by Brian, came with 'World Lanscapes' mesh package that I used to use. It is a Vans RV-6A, not my bag so can't actually remember what it was like.

This model certainly appears, from the above pics, to be at least on a par with the FDGV2 models. As and aside - I have been tweaking the FDGV2 Wildcat and noticed that the wings fold action does not function. Did it ever?

Wish that some modeller would produce an FS2004 Carrier Pack . . .

Many thanks for that link Motormouse. It is certainly very nice to discover something new in something old!

In which case, Robert Sanderson's Sea Hurricane installer, in the library here, includes a landable escort carrier parked in the Orkney area.

Thank you Jamie for the pics. It doesn't look too bad. I might be able to throw some new paint on it:encouragement:

Thanks everyone for the information! :very_drunk:

vonernsk, been a while since I have flown the FDG version, but keep in mind, the -3 model did not have folding wings. The -4 and FM-2 models do.

Thanks again for all of your past works - much appreciated and flaunted in the virtual skies.
