Okay,

I am at a loss.

I have all of UT's modifications to the VN RN fleet carriers properly installed, all listed together in the descript.dat - mdlnames - ships folder.

Checked and double checked the panel and sound folder in each ship to make sure they are NOT empty.

YET:

Only VN_HMS_Illustrious45 and VN_HMS_Formidable45 show up in Mission Builder.

Additionally, I have tried changing the names in the MIS files to VN_HMS_Indomitable45 and VN_HMS_Victorious45 and the sim says it cannot find them/replace them with????????

Checked and double checked the ship.cfg and VN_HMS_*45.dp to make sure they match exactly what is in the Model.cfg and mdl.......

Why do ONLY 2 of my VN Royal Navy carriers show up for mission builder???

How many ships do you have? There is the same limit to ships as there is planes.

last thing to look at is the discript.dat file. Though it shouldn't matter.

I have 99 ships.

I can delete the USN missions and campaigns and eliminate the USN ships to get the numbers lower since this is my Royal Navy install.

The ship limit is not the same as the plane limit,I have over 200 ships in my ships folder with no problems.I found the limit for my install was around 230 before I had any problems. The limit does differ for each install as it does with planes.I have at least 5 CFS2 installs and only one has less than 200 ships ( 175 ).

I have found the limits for the number of things in the aircraft, ships and objects_dp seem to be related. Too many ships can be hit at a fairly low number if there are too many scenery and or weapons objects in the objects_dp file or in the aircraft file.

Sounds weird, but when I have hit the limit on aircraft or ships files, removing a number of unused scenery objects will fix it and allow me to add more aircraft or ships.

Well said CK...a seriously overlooked factor in many of these "CFS2 Limits" threads. The aircraft, ships, objects_dp's and total scenery installations are all cataloged and correlated into the database files. And my guess is that's where the limits are regulated by the governing dll modules. I have nine WW2 installs for CFS2, plus a WW1 install. I'm constantly skirting the limitations line in all of the major installs at 1650+ object_dp's no matter how few aircraft or ships are in use. Once i hit the 1690-1700+ range, the database messages appear in QC and FF and if i get too far over 1700, its all no-joy for QC and FF.

Devildog73,

I am having the exact same issue, and ran every single check you did. :dizzy:

UncleTgt,

I solved the BPF carrier mystery, and when I tell you, I'll bet you twenty pounds you're going to want to put your head right through a wall.

It all came down to the [MISC.DATA] section. To save time, I presume you copied the data from one ship to the next...I would have done the same. However, in all the ships except for the Formidable and the Illustrious, you used a double open bracket [[ rather than a single one [, making all the other carriers as useless as tits on a bull.
Figures, doesn't it? :costumed-smiley-034

:hopelessness:The zip has now been updated with the fix Rami uncovered.

It seems it only affects the 1945 (BPF) carrier dps, so most people might want to avoid re-downloading & just open up the dp with Notepad, scroll to the [MISC DATA] section & remove that pesky duplicated square bracket :toilet_claw:
