Just a HEADS UP for our mates at SOH........... not telling anyone else until the release :wiggle:

Recently your Ford Tri-Motor Team released a scenery pack called Ford-Timor which incorporated Jump Ramps from various platforms.

It was good fun to create and lots of simmers seem to be enjoying it. However, sorry to those that have already download it, the project has expanded as I could not resist adding some more ideas, models and ramps to the scenery package.

The end result is that the project now contains lots of small and large Jump Ramps, a couple of Ski Ramps and a Grass up/down Hill Runway.

PLUS an Airship at 1270 feet above the field with a runway and jump ramp on top. :untroubled:

But Wait - there's more: Now the project also contains an Aircraft Carrier with two new jump ramp alternatives. All set up on 6 different height levels - absolute fun flying and some great challenges for takeoff and landings.

AND YET EVEN MORE STUFF: For those that fly with the following Ford Project Scenery :adoration:

(1) Ford-Blackhawks
(2) Ford-Brazil
(3) Ford-Switzerland

I have included in the new Ford-Timor.zip download some files which add Ramps and Jumps in various locations throughout those scenery packs.

Strongly recommend you check out this slideshow: http://www.ford-tri-motor.net/Slideshows/JUMP_RAMP_HEAVEN.html

That should give you a good overview of what is included in the new Ford-Timor Scenery Project. SOON TO BE RELEASED :encouragement:

Please don't rush over to the Ford Tri-Motor Project site yet to download - another couple of days before I can finalise the updates and the web site - planning for a Friday Night (Aussie time) for the release of the new Ford-Timor scenery pack.

When you get the new Ford-Timor you will be surprised at what is included in less than a 4 megabytes download.

Regards
Your Ford Tri-Motor Team....

Awesome work Garry! This will make FS interesting. Not that it isn't already, but this is something way outside the box.

Thanks gentlemen,

Yes I think that the working ramp concept is a first - do not recall anyone else ever doing that for FS2004 - it is something that has festered in my thoughts for quiet a long time and I have tinkered on and off over the years.

Then in May 2016 I had another go and got it to work for some basic tinkering. After a lot of experimenting I have been able to expand the single jump concept into many different forms and to demonstrate that I did the first release of Ford Timor Scenery.

I thought I would stop there.......:untroubled:

However, the concept of a Carrier Model with jump ramps kept annoying me - so got stuck in and beat that.

Then I had to encourage the "re-download" of Ford Timor I had to add not only the carrier but some additional fun for some of the Ford Tri-Motor Projects other scenery and Blackhawk, Brazil and Switzerland came to mind as some great fun areas to enrich.

Should have it all available for you all by Friday Night......:biggrin-new:

Here's a twist on this new effort. I recalled the photo on page 29 and scratched my head how this might be done. But it might be that it would take hundreds of segments to pull off. Still, it's a cool article.

Hi Good People,

Things went more smoothly than I thought - build the relevant zip files, wrote the readme.txt (worth reading as it has all of the start point details etc) - revamped the Ford-Tri-Motor/Scenery web page. Then uploaded it all - tested and appears fine.

You will find it all at the Ford Tri-Motor Project Site at the bottom of the first Scenery Page.
Quick link for those who just NEED :wiggle: to jump straight to the relevant page http://www.ford-tri-motor.net/scenery.htm

SOH patrons are the first to get this notification - will visit the forums in the other "empires" tomorrow night :biggrin-new:

Happy Simming from your Ford Tri-Motor Project Team.

Too Late Mate :wiggle:

I am already working on an idea to create a circular banked ramp runway - go around in circles until you get enough speed to take off - no idea if the idea will work but will tinker and see what comes of it.

I suspect it will be a lot of trial and error so it will not be one for Ford Timor - but might pop up in another scenery pack sometime in the future.....

Regards and thanks mate - I think :banghead:

Going round in circles is going to be fun! Garry, just to confirm, The Timor download is the only needed to upgrade all the jumps?

Hi Mate,

The Ford-Timor scenery contains all of the ramps and platforms - models and textures that are required to see them in Ford-Timor. If you have installed Ford-Timor then the "addendum" ramps for Ford-Blackhawk, Ford-Brazil and Ford-Switzerland will also work.

However, as always there are some of the "default" buildings and objects that I have used from the KORS-ORCA scenery and Ford-Factory scenery - the ones I deem the foundation stuff for most of the Ford Project scenery. If you do not have the above two installed then some hangars and other minor items will simply not appear in the scenery - nothing critical to Ford-Timor - will just leave some blank spots here and there.

regards

Garry

Thanks, Garry. I'm good to go then, as I have all, (yup, all) you scenery & have just downloaded & updated my existing Timor folder. I love the idea of a round runway.. My active mind see's a motor car race as well!
You do realise I'm going to take a car down the ramps? All part of our simming fun.
Thanks for creating an amazing factual/fictional world for us.

Cheers,
Robin

Hi again Robin,

Glad your enjoying the entire suite of scenery from the Ford Tri-Motor Project. And your welcome to use/abuse the ramps etc anyway you get some fun out of it. Our approached is the Fact, Fiction and Fun concept for our scenery and the Ford-Timor package is definitely one of the Fun ones.

Below is a picture of my first draft of a circular runway - 100 feet wide and 6 degree bank - with three entry/exit points - setting it up in my Ford TEST airfield - still a lot of tinkering to go but it seems possible at the moment. Experimentation takes a lot of time but will see where it goes.

Thanks Tom, Appreciated :wavey:

In response to your good deed - I will add the Ford-Timor Project to the SOH's FS2004 libraries tonight - some might like to get it from there as an alternative........

Ignorant question - how do I get rid of the one of the double image in my last post in this thread - I did an attachment and got two image :untroubled:

Regards mate.

Have finished my first tinkers with circle style runways. Did a couple at different angle slopes and then tinkered with an Indy Style ramped race track.:wavey:

Will not be adding these to the Ford Timor Scenery but will keep refining them and sometime in the future I may put them into another scenery package.:wiggle:
