Hi Friends,
I have just uploaded my Savoia Marchetti S.79CS & T....

Civilian "CS" (Competizione Sportiva=Sporting Race) versions of the known medium and torpedo bomber Savoia-Marchetti S.79 "Sparviero", deployed by Regia Aeronautica, or Italian Royal Air Force, were successfully flown (w/civil marks) in the "Istres-Damascus-Paris (Lindberg Cup)" 1937 air race, where they ranked the first three places of the final scoreboard. The also "civilian" "T" (Transatlantic) version of the very same S.79 performed exceptionally in the 1938 Atlantic crossing Roma-Dakar-Rio de Janeiro and in a 1939 experimental test meant to verify the feasibility of an airline passengers and mail line between Italy and South America for the civilian airlines (Ala Littoria S.A.- Linee Aeree Atlantiche, later called L.A.T.I./Linee Aeree Transcontinentali Italiane) over the routes of Southern Atlantic Ocean (Brazil/Argentina/Equador).
3 new different GMax models, covering 3 different versions of the civilian S.79 described above and featuring the standard animated parts, such as all flight controls, props pitch and leading-edge slats. Ten (10) different liveries depicting all the S.79CS team which flew the 1937 Istres-Damascus-Paris Race, the 1938 Roma-Rio de Janeiro Expedition and 1939 Transatlantic Test flight. This plane was originally developed for FS9, but an FSX version is also available in another separated release. VC only. GMax Models and Skins by Manuele Villa & Italianwings.Installation instructions included.

Manuele,

Thank you for a very impressive presentation of this beautiful aircraft. Style, character and perfomance in a 1930s' veteran. The variety of models and the great skins make this a very special package of joy and fun.

Thanks again for giving us the fruits of your labour.

Roland,

Are you flying the (not native) FSX version? I had the privilege to fly a pre-release version and had similar problems, but with the final version these problems are gone for me (see images, all images made in FSX). As Manuele could not reproduce the issue, I thought it had to do with my video card (Nvidea GeForce GTX 760).

By the way for the FSX version there is a thread in the FSX forums.

Cheers,
Huub

Hi,
I get a slightly similar effect side on with all the lines, but it's not too noticeable...where does the beautiful blue and white texture come from?

Hi Andy,
Unfortunately I cannot solve the problem with the brurred props because the props work correctly in my PC....
The blue/ivory were typical colours of ALA LITTORIA planes, take a look in the DOCS folder within "Savoia Marchetti S.79CS MVG" folder for history of the race and raids.

Such a wonderful model and the prop thing is barely visible anyway, but what I was really asking was whether that ALA LITTORIA livery/texture was available for download somewhere?

Hi Andy,
I-ALAN livery is included in the package, in the a/c choice simply search for "SM.79 Sparviero/Passeggeri".....

I've downloaded this plane yesterday ! just one word : fa-bu-lous !!!! I've got also a problem with the propellers texture so I corrected them with copying the black file "Prop_rear.bmp" and renamed it "prop.bmp" and deleted the gray one. So, I have the same texture file both sides of the propeller, and now without any problem.

Hello Manuele, Thank you for this magnificent group of historic aircraft. Your SM. 79 series is a fitting tribute to Alessandro Marchettí, and all those who built and flew the Sparviero. Your modelling and artwork is marvelous. Thanks also to Stefano Meneghini, FSAviator, and the many talented contributors.

Hi,
Let's hope this is roughly on-topic :pop4:

Much as I like the S-79 models, I also like to add an autopilot so I can go off and make Tea. I think some of Manuele's aircraft have a modified Sperry(?) unit, but not the I-ALAN which is the one I fly.

I have the old LAGO model to which I have added the autopilot from the Dh 104, which works well, but this does not want to function in these newer aircraft and I wondered whether there is something I can do to make this unit work.

Thanks for any advice,
Andy.

Just posted this in the FSX forum and have copied it here

I have experience some sim crashes when flying the new SM. 79 models. I'm not sure what is causing it but I did notice that in a couple of instances, the prop textures did not display properly before the crash when starting the engines. I also noticed that a prop texture problem was mentioned in the FSX forum's SM. 79 thread. Has anyone encountered any issues with this airplane in FS9?

While at the FSX thread, I saw a beautiful "clean" I-ALAN texture work in progress by Huub Vink. Huub, if you read this, I am very interested in this "clean" texture. To have use of both your "clean" and Manuele's "travel weary" textures would add much realism to long flights.

Sometimes a lot can be learned by reading FSX and CFS2 forums.:)

Hi Hurricane91,
Unfortunately I cannot help You (and the others) in solving the problems related to props and to FS9 (or FSX) crash because, strangely, I and my Italian friends that collaborated with me in betatesting during development and before the release, never met these problems.....

Thank you sir, I will give them a try. The last few test flights were without any problems, so I am hoping the cause was a system glitch.

Thank you for the response Manuele. All flights yesterday with several of the new models were without problems so I suspect some sort of system issue caused the trouble.

Loved the shot of your I-ALAN SM-79 paint. Did you ever up-load for FS9?

Would love to fly it on this beautiful Italian tri-motor done by Mvg3d.

Not yet Mal,

While gathering information about this aircraft I found some information which needed to be lookad at. There are a few details which are not really standard. Manuele and I had some contact and Manuele asked his Italian friend to help us.

The most interresting thing is the non-standard marking with the Italian axe. We all know the blue background, but pictures showed that aircraft used by LATI used a slightly different marking. As all pictures available showed the marking in black & white we didn't have a clue about the colours. Until a friend of Manuele found a picture from an old model , which showed the marking in full colour.
This and other things we found are now introduced in the repaint.

I hope to upload both the FSX and FS9 version later today.

Thanks for that Huub.

Your attention to detail and persistence in reaching the right sources are admirable. I shall very much enjoy the fruits of your labour.

I have spent the last few days correcting the wheel positions and adding exhaust effects and smoke to the 3 engines and landing effects. Also added the 'squeaky brakes' gauge which always makes me smile on these 1930s' a/c.

Not sure who did the sound for this a/c. It really gives great ambiance. Good enough to be Nigel's or Hambly's. Apologies if I got this wrong!

Very impressive a/c on the approach to Duxford, many thanks to Mvgd3 for all his skill and work, which provide hours of immersion in a long lost age of flight.

The sounds are from Stefano "PCMeneg" Meneghini, also author of many of the gauges used in this package.

My thanks to Stefano. He has packed a lot of interesting and varied noises into a tiny package, plus he made the gauges. That takes some skill!

Anyway, as I said before - great ambience for a great a/c that gives real feeling.

Very beautiful Huub. Thank you. The additional research is much appreciated.
I have seen some photos of I-MAGO with the Alfa Romeo 125 engines that
also had very pictorialized "axe" markings on the cowling.
