Perhaps I'm one of the lucky few who have not had any issues with the update. Things have changed, mostly for the better (at least for me). One of the most significant for me is the draw distance for buildings and trees. Much more realistic and immersive. The update came out while I was working so I wasn't able to download anything until this evening. TBH I was expecting a sh**show based on what I was seeing on Reddit and on the forums here but was pleasantly surprised that the total downloads only took a couple of hours. I've learned over the years to NEVER update right away. I saw that the servers were overloaded at some point earlier today. Haven't had time to play with the graphics settings but am hopeful that I can safely crank up some of the settings from my current High End presets.

First folder written at 1815, last one at 2256. I've been in the sim for all of about 5 minutes - too tired for anything else. It seems as if heavy frame areas induce a system that keeps things down just enough to maintain 20 FPS - at least that's what happened when I was droning around London. I used to get horrible frames there after that world update. At KGSO, I used to get about 25 frames, now that's up to around 35 - not quite doubled, but an improvement. I wasn't really expecting 50 on my rig anyway. It's 2325 local and I need to get up at 0600. I'm going to make one last check of the official board and then it's bed time!

finally done, a little over 6 hours later. First flight in the classic Cessna -- not a good start. Couldn't turn the fuel selector (even when I switched the cockpit mode back to Legacy), the trim wheel only moves to three positions :-) (all up, center, all down), my left/right view controls were reversed (easy fix) and then I got a CTD on approach to an airport only 5 miles from where I took off. Next flight in the really basic C152: First thing I noticed -- the strobes don't work. The switch moves but no lights. And this is with no add-ons in the Community Folder yet. :-) I'm guessing these kinds of bugs were likely identified during the beta but just not addressed in this build so they could meet the schedule (makes sense) and they'll have a hot fix in a week or two to...

They introduced a new interaction method called "Lock." Go into Settings - General - Accessibility and you'll find the setting there. Change that back to "Legacy."

Interesting vid. If it is a West Coast regulation and it is 'true' I'd be unsurprised. :devilish:

Since I run on ultra all the time, it looks to me like the level of detail is less and a lot of the buildings now look like they are right out of FSX. Very strange. Also, what's with the small white dot in the camera view? I have a bad feeling about this update.

With each building I try and learn some new aspect of Sketchup (2016). Its the latest free version I can run on my laptop which is limited by the graphics card. Its a great little laptop and I get really good fps and run full sliders in FSX. I don't have a problem with that because I have an app that allows me to open newer version downloads and then retro-save them as 2016 or 2015 having both versions. My Pastor's teenage son asked me after Church Sunday if I could teach him how to use it and I am looking forward to sharing my knowledge with him. My last two flight sim students are fine young men now. One is in the Air Force learning to be a crew chief on cargo aircraft and the other is in the Army learning to be a heavy equipment operator in the Corps of Engineers. I am very...

Absolutely - the first 20 Gigs - Tutorials - I don't want/ not interested/ will never go there - waste of Planet Earth's resources - The last 15 Gigs are the Big Files so they kind of flatten out and will go by quickly. It seems the delays "Please Wait. .. ..." are when MSFS is searching for an "In" to the next file it wants to download - when you get the big files - your speed increases and the whole deal speeds up. So, in summary - if you get past half way - you'll be okay. Heads up if you're flying fast jets - the Update destroys your Controller settings (It doesn't look like it does - but it does) - so, Brothers of the Outhouse - careful on those ailerons - until you've backed off the sensitivities - back to where they need to be for very fast Post-Mach supersonic stuff.

Real bumpy install for me as well. Four hours into it and still 10GB to go, not counting content manager. So far, 2 CTDs, 3 loops, a very long pause trying to get a license, and a complete freeze when checked for updates during one of the restarts. Download speeds all across the range for my setup. I'm not too surprised though considering all the server traffic. I don't know why they dont break out some the content into optional installations. The tutorials or discovery flights for example, great few newbies but not essential for the core sim. - dcc

Everything i touch with the mouse in the cockpit turns BLUE and I can't change/ dial or alter it. It's like tool tips but it won't let you do anything - just a '?' with a Press to change - but when you do it doesn't. I have hundreds of hours real world flying - but this has defeated me. wtf. p.s; frame rates are off the clock - which is nice.

Find that hard to believe...tho the computers used in the production of Babylon 5 had to be smuggled out of the US as there was an embargo on exporting high-end machines the time I think they were Amiga 3000s ...the then ultimate graphic processing gizmos on the planet...;)

They're probably making some compromises to get that advertised bump in frames. I started this process just over three hours ago and I still haven't started a flight. The first download was almost two and a half hours, then a couple of mystery CTD hiccups, and now I'm downloading probably another hour+ in the Content Manager. I just love these long nights... :banghead:

Don't forget the Content Manager once you're in - I'm currently downloading another 21.46 GB!!!

I calculated that my update time, based on total size and download rate, would be about 2 hours and 16 minutes. With the pauses for decompression, it ended up being 2:26 - not far off! Now I'm on to the Content Manager for six updates. All five previous World Updates are getting refreshed, along with my Deluxe Package. What's getting updated in that last one, I have no clue. The main update included liveries for planes in the Premium package, which I don't have. I guess I'll check to see what was written according to the folders' timestamps. This round is just short of another 21.5GB, so I'm looking at another hour and a quarter if speeds hold like the last round.
