Captain Kurt did some updated SCW campaigns back in 2013 - it's well worth using these as your start point rather than any older stuff :encouragement:

I second that - the Sabre for FS9 has to be my favourite freeware gem ever, though I got mine from a PC Pilot CD (issue 59)

Mwah.... usually it's all external my good friend..My perception is that repainters don't care much for poking around in VC's... Take that very nice looking Pilot's Boeing 314 Clipper, one of the biggest initial debacles in the history of MSFS (:)). The external model looks very nice indeed, well worth an equally nice looking VC. Unfortunately that didn't happen. IMHO an awful green color as one of the reasons. While i don't do repaints anymore this Clipper VC was the reason i had a look into the ins and outs of MSFS repainting (more or less..) with result of a new overall VC color, actually quite easily done (i guess the real deal starts with PBR materials and texture baking). But that's not all of it of course, it's just a good start. I mean, if i myself, MSFS repaint experience...

After joining the forum (2005), I kept pestering the prolific Wildbat to make skins I wanted. He was gracious enough to accommodate me to a point, but I learned that if I wanted every skin I wanted I would have to do it myself. So, I got a copy of Photoshop and gradually learned how to do decent skins (and I'm still learning). The different CFS3 theaters could use so many simple things like weapons/loadouts. Things like radomes or antennas could be added to existing aircraft through the creation of new pylons (JayCee excelled at this!) to further expand the sim. Every once in a while someone with a specific area of interest will come along with the necessary skills and push things along a bit. While I sympathize with your point, it will most likely come down to: If you want it, you're...

Wow! Thanks for that feedback, Mick. And re posting images - I've now worked my way around the differences between SOH and SUBSIM - it's now just this inability to edit older posts. No big deal but if we can do it under water in Subsim, then why not here - in the air? I use "IMGUR" to edit and upload my pictures - it's very easy and dependable (and free of course) - so if you'd like an easy step-by-step sometime then let me know Glynn ("Rawsthorne" or "Eichhörnchen" - in the other place)

I've been an SOH member for many years and I still get confused about images in posts. For me the big head-scratcher is why sometimes images appear full sized in posts and sometimes as thumbnails that you have to click to see the full sized image. A software update is in the works and maybe then however it works will be consistent.

When I was a little kid my parents used to take me down the highway to Bradley Field (now Bradley International, KBDL) where we'd sit out on the open deck right above the boarding ramp (no jetways then) and watch the planes. My most persistent early memory of airplanes is seeing those big silver DC-6s in that vintage American Airlines livery. It remains my all time favorite airline livery and it looked just as good a decade later on their jetliners.

Well the goofy/unique F7U Cutlass is one of my favorite planes, and my scratch-built RC one flies better than just about anything I've flown...if anybody here is into RC I even posted plans on RCgroups... to very little interest of course. Anyways, I have tried everything I know but it won't show up in free flight. It is the "mc" one , I think the only one out there and it is listed under cfs2. I did put the gauges files into gauges... as directed... there is a sounds folder with sounds inside the main plane's folder but that looks normal to me. I aliased the panel and the sound cfg files to the working Heinkel Salamander... no go. I converted the bmp (strangely there is a texture folder inside the panel folder which has bmp of the plane's exterior... tried to moving them to...
