    Alpha Mig-23 In The Works

    Hi All,

I've been working on this convert on and off for a couple of years now. She's a real tough nut to crack.
Anyone who has tried it will know what I mean.

Finally (with a real hack job ) the important animations are working.

Some pics...and hope to have her ready before the spring thaw.

    Hi dmaloof and misson,

Yes, jets are more or less a novelty in CFS2, but if they have cannon I'll try and convert them. For a bit of fun one could give an AI opponent in mission builder an air file of a good fighting prop plane.

@ misson, Yeah, it's a scasm job. If you ever do one from a *.sca file, it is very similar to the largest Suduko puzzle you'll ever attempt.

    Till Later Guys,
    Dave

    Very nice.

I used to practice shooting them down in the Stinger missile simulation dome in my younger military days........

Kazunori Ito's planes can't be used for conversion, since he doesn't want his planes to be converted to CFS2 and fire weapons.

Finally started on the damage profile. There's a nice set of modern Russian weapons at SimV.
    They seem nicely done.

    Ready For Download

Ok gents, she's finished and ready for download.

If you happen to notice anything missing or "not right", let me know.
As usual, I feel like something was not included.

    Thanks, Dave

Outstanding! Why can't I help think about "Final Countdown" right now?

Good old Kirk Douglas. A blast back to the 80's and 40's.

The problem is I keep over shooting the Zeros.

    A beauty!

    Nice, impressive job Dvslats!

Forgive my ignorance, but I am better informed about earlier years of aviation history, were MiG23's ever met in combat by Western planes?

Perhaps in Vietnam? As far as I know only MiG21s, 19s and 17s were flown by the North Vietnamese.

    Anyway:

    THANK YOU!

    ...and Happy Easter!

To my knowledge, only twice :

    > during the war between South Africa and Angola, there were encounters between Angolan Floggers and South African Mirages.
    > later, there were fights between Iraqi MiG-23s and Iranian F-4s, F-5s and maybe F-14s.

I don't know if Iraqi MiG-23s were involved in any air fight on early 1991.
And maybe some Syrian or Egyptian flown Floggers were shot down by Israeli fighters, but I can't be sure either.

During Israeli operation "Peace in Galilea" in 1982, several syrian Mig23s were shot down by IAF fighters, mostly F-15s and F-16s...

    Hi Stef, and thank you.

In regards to combat by Western planes, there was the Gulf of Sidra incident.

The majority of the others I have read about involve Egypt and the IAF Mirage.
A lot of middle eastern countries had an inventory of Mig-23's as Roxane-21 and Gius stated.

And you have a Happy Easter also!

Ps: For many more skins go to the Avsim library and search Alphasim Mig-23 .
