    More Gems of Freeware:
    Holger "The Amazing" Sandmann

His Glacier Bay scenery is done to payware standards - indeed, in shares many of the best features of his amazing Tongass Fjords payware package. It is a total-environment-upgrade, addressing almost all features of the sim in a large area of Alaska. Truly, it is a "Must-Have" scenery!
Attached are some shots of one recent flight there...
The scenery can be had at avsim and flightsim with these files names: glbayv2a.zip, glbayv2b.zip

I am also an enthusiastic user of Holgers truly amazing Columbia River Gorge - a large and full-featured enhancement of the Columbia River area in Washington and Oregon. It can be had at avsim with these file names:
cr_gorge.zip, crg_upd1.zip. A very nice AI package can be found with the file name gorge_ai.zip. There is also an update to make this scenery compatible with Ultimate Terrain - utusacrg.zip - and another file to make it compatible with FlightZone 2: Portland - http://forums.simflight.com/viewtopic.php?f=231&t=75470.
This is a very nice scenery indeed! The last two shots attached show small portions of the area covered, and neither are terribly representative - but you can see that it is a very nice place anyway!

Anyone who wishes to augment my screenshots with better ones of their own may - these sceneries should not be left misrepresented by my feeble attempts!

    May I add another one?

Strange thing - in german we have this saying:
"Manchmal sieht man den Wald vor lauter Baeumen nicht!"
Hard to translate, but it should mean not to see the forest for the trees...

    My today's gem is the
    SOH Project A-26 Invader!

    http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforum...splay.php?f=49

As I just read in another thread here, even well-known and experienced repainters still put their brushes on this outstanding (yes, I know: this phrase is sometimes overstressed...) jewel!

    Cheers,
    Markus.

    de Havilland Mosquito by Brunosk
BSK_MosquitoNFII_V4.zip on SOH. Originally a CFS2 plane, it is nonetheless a gem in FS9, especially when the dynamics from De Havilland DH98 Mosquito NFII for Fs2004 are used and skins by Morton and RobH are applied!

I'm with EMatheson - anything by Bill Lyons, with the addition of any scenery by Leon Louis to fly it. Golden Hawaii is well worth having, too.
Rats - why won't anything work properly first time?

Got another 'oldie but goodie', a scenery file this time,
freeware from Richard 'Georender' Goldstein,an fs2002 scenery that nonetheless works in fs2004,
at Avsim (and maybe a few other places)

    Spotted Bear USFS (8U4)

    File Description:
Phototextured rendering of a US Forestry Service airstrip deep in the mountains of Western Montana. Includes ground detail and shadow effects, as well as detail and reflection on the water. Water landing possible. Plenty of choices for flying fun with a curved grass strip surrounded by tall trees and a meandering river. Beware of puddles on the runway!

Take my love, take my land / Take me where I cannot stand, I don't care, I'm still free / You can't take the sky from me.

Take me out to the black / Tell 'em I ain't comin' back.

Burn the land and boil the sea / You can't take the sky from me...

Some Soviet/Russian heavies! In my opinion, some of the most intensive freeware tubeliners available. Equivalent or better than payware.

Ok, here's another that don't get a lot of 'air' time (does in my hangar)
fly it from the VC,and watch those control runs, from here at Outhouse
    Steven D Myers Porterfield-Turner Collegiate

and who can forget Jed Marsh's planes either

    http://www.pavaservices.com/cfs/

and although its an unfinished 'Beta' (but much more finished than a lot of completed projects from other sites) the Percival Prentice can be found here

Here's another FS2002 beauty who's survived the test of time. The Robin 400 by (once again) Yannick Lavigne, Fred Banting, Rob Young...and converted for use in FS2004 by Eric Dantes. Wonderfully modelled, textured, and flys great. Check out the texturing on the pilot. Amazing! Can be downloaded from Flightsim.com. Files needed are dr400v1.zip and dr400_04.zip.

Sorry if these are too obvious, a sample from my overstuffed hard drive - but then they're all too good to push into the hangar, amongst the light stuff how about the Golden Age Taylor Cub at

    http://www.flightsim.com/kdl.php?fid=128605

their New Standard D25A at http://www.flightsim.com/kdl.php?fid=118971

not to mention the earlier Waco ATO/CTO package at

    http://www.flightsim.com/kdl.php?fid=98532

coming across the pond Oliver Fischer's Bucker Jungmann at avsim -check out his Junkers JU52 while you're there:

    http://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=117785

Gunter Graemer's Me108 and his Cirrus SR20 shouldn't be missed....if you can find a download site with them - sorry I got them from his site but I think he closed it down, but of course I could be wrong!

    The new Auster Aiglet at

    http://www.classicbritishfiles.com/

and nosey around for anything Auster or Miles for starters at that site

    The Piel Emeraude at http://www.flightsim.com/kdl.php?fid=94795

The Aero Heaven Hurricane is vastly better than a payware version out there, but then so is Robert Sanderson's - both can be found at flightsim.

then up the pace with the Saab Draken which I thought was something like ....bookmark.se - but I can't find it at present

or for airliners naturally the FSDZ Constellation at

    http://www.flightsim.com/kdl.php?fid=80675

and of course the C-46 at

    http://www.flightsim.com/file.php?cm...name=C46GA.ZIP

for more scarcity value Peter Larkham's lovely Cunliffe-Owen Concordia at

    http://www.flightsim.com/kdl.php?fid=117701

The Derek Palmer DH-104 dove has been mentioned recently in the forum:

    http://www.flightsim.com/kdl.php?fid=100500

and any airliner by Manfred Jahn and also Jens Kristensen who has covered everything from early Vickers Vimy biplanes through to the Comet 1, and they all fly well.

Kirk Olsson did a lovely F-16 family, and Mirages and the F-86 for whistling round the valleys in.

Milton's Spartan is brilliant but that is covered above and so is Dave Eckert's Stearman.

An often forgotten gem of awesomeness: the PWDT Zlin 43
    pwdt_zlin43.zip on AVSIM.com, pwzlin43.zip on flightsim.com

Very detailed model, stunning textures, great FD, and enough systems depth to make even the hardest-hearted of us read the manual.

The pictures are not mine - but from the creators original files.

    Great freeware airports:

    EDLM, Marl-Loemuehle
    edlm2005.zip on flightsim.com

Animated people, traffic, custom AI (with decent repaints should you wish to fly them), a very nicely executed airport, and a rather unique and one-of-a-kind in FS flyable aircraft model are included in this high-quality package.

    Photos from the creator.

    CYBD, Bella Coola
    bc_bella.zip on Avsim and Flightsim
If you have Ultimate Terrain Canada/Alaska, download these additional files from the same places: sebclod9.zip, ut_bc_hs.zip.

The airport is not updated, but it does not need to be. Trust me.

    Photos from the creator.

    Great freeware airports:

    9Dragons Kai Tak
    9dv2-1.zip, 9dv2p1-1.zip, 9dv2p2-4.zip, 9dv2p3-4.zip, 9dv2p4-4.zip, ai_kt_hb.zip, 9dktales.zip on Flightsim; 9dv2-1.zip, 9dv2p1-1.zip, part_2of4.zip, 9dv2p3-4.zip, 9dv2p4-4.zip, ai_kt_hb.zip, 9dktales.zip on avsim

Payware Quality rendering of Hong-Kong, including photo-textures for most of the island, custom autogen, animated ships and cars, and two airports modelled (one more dismantled than modelled, but close enough).

    Jesenicko v2
jes2.zip on Flightsim, jes2_051121.zip on Avsim

Small, impeccably modelled grass glider fields set in wonderfully done photo-real terrain. Truly a "Must" for the light-GA flyer!

    CYEE, Huronia
huronia.zip on Flightsim, huronia_cyee.zip on Avsim

A small, photo-real airport in Ontario. Not fancy, but solid. Absolutely perfect alone, even better with Ultimate Terrain Canada/Alaska.
Features a nice set of objects, custom ground textures, and seasonally changing features.
