    Allen b-17F & G

Great planes! They are great models. However, the bay doors will not open on either the B-17F or G. Are they supposed to open?

Hey Allen. Any chance of seeing that XB-38 with the Allison engines? That is one sleek looking B-17. I wonder how it was to fly.

Or a good multi-res B-17D! Even if it is simple AI version.

The XB-38 was made from a B-17E and was about 10 MPH faster than a standard B-17. The lone XB-38 was destroyed in an in-flight fire after 12 hrs flight time and though it showed promise there was a belief (though maybe not a fact) that the Allison engines were needed elsewhere and it was not replaced.

No bomb bay doors on any of the B-17s.

Did start on that idea from another FS2004 B-17D I was sent but being made for FS04 it was just too much work.

Started working on the B-17C/D. Nothing but probs. First gMax just quit working. Than the back up copy of gMax wouldn't export as MakeMDL would crash. It looks like most thing about SOH are in working order now but I see some bugs still. Over all nice work by the SOH team for geting things back up!

For those that may have missed it.

A new entry has been added to Add-Ons Library, category CFS 2 Aircraft - American

Description: Conversion of my B-17F to a B-17D. Has working virtual cockpit and most animations with breaking parts and damage texture logics. Model is Multi LOD. Includes needed bombs. Exterior textures are re-jig and/or edits of the "Red Gremlin" texture by Sopwith Chameleon for the FDG2 Ex-Donationware B-17F.

With different paint you could also use it with RAF Bomber and Coastal Commands.

    Allen,

My apologies for my tardiness on this. I echo UncleTgt's comments on this; this is a much-needed addition for the early Pacific. Well done!
