It'll never fly!
You must be bored - I think I'll have to give you some work to do.
Do you plan on making player flyable versions of the B-17 after finishing the odd B-17?
The subject of the beginning of this post is a B-17F. Most were field modified to carry 1 or 2 .50 cal. guns in the nose as the Germans had figured out that that was a weak spot defensively. Late production F's and all G's had chin turrets making a late production F almost indistinguishable from a G. The plexiglass nose on the G was cut back a little for barrel clearance.
Interestingly, in Boeing nomenclature all B-17E's through B-17G's were Model 299 O.

About done with it. Need to see about adding some Oxy tanks behind the seats and find Hydraulic Pressure gauges. What I need is 2 Hydraulic Pressure gauges. One gauges will have Eng 1 and Eng 2 and the other will have Eng 3 and Eng 4. None of the MAPE gauges seem to have any Hydraulic Pressure.

I updated my AI B-17 to make it player flyable.

I added a much needed virtual cockpit and cowl flaps in the VC. The exterior has some small updates. The nose plexiglass now has frame and a floor for the gunners. Tail has a small texture update.

Thank you, allen, for converting your ai b-17.
I wish I could download and fly it, but I am in Indiana visit my relatives.
When you get back I'll maybe have another one in the bag...

Not sure if the model will be a late F or early G. I'm unsure if the early Gs had enclosed waist and radio guns and if yes enclosed waist guns what type of window did they use?
Saddly the F and early Gs never came bare metal but I'm painting so I can do what I want.

These may be of help, 01 & 02 are from Detail & Scale Vol 02 - Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress Part 1, 03 is from Squadron Signal 1063 - B-17 In Action.
Thanks for the info. Went with fully in closed tail. I'm not sure what style of windows the G-1 had. I seen 2 types of window. One is just a large plexiglass window and the other is 3 window frame style.
I have only so far found the 3 window frame style on B-17G-15s and a B-17G-35-BO (Shoo Shoo Baby)

Hi there, I'm a FS9'er & would love to port the odd B17 over. I tend to collect strange aircraft & this will add to my collection.
Any thoughts of completing it?
Cheers,
Robin
I'll proby get around to finsihing the odd B17 once the G model is sorted out.

The official installation of enclosed waist gun positions, called K-6 mounts, were on B-17 block # G-50 BO, G-50 VE and G-25 DL though there is photographic evidence of them on earlier blocks which means that they were probably installed at modification centers that also installed Cheyenne tail turrets. The window type probably indicates an early or late production G as does weather they have staggered waist gun stations or not.
Model in game. It is about done but for texture work.
Side start will need to be moved forward and under side gray rework.
The K-6 mounts seem to have been used with both window types. I went with the 3 window frame style.
