    Ai Carriers.. P3D 3.2

    Hello,

Anyone have luck getting this to work?

I am re-installing all my add ons after a re-format and struggling with this one. Aicarriers2 appears to not like the version of Java I installed for it, so I have followed this thread with no luck: http://www.fsdreamteam.com/forum/ind...c,11293.0.html

Anyone have any suggestions as to where I am going wrong?

    Cheers,

    Fraser

I haven't tinkered with AI Carriers and P3D, but it seems the later revision that does away with Java is the way to go?

AICarriers with Java might still work in P3Dv3, as long as you install it properly.
But yes, the .NET version of AICarriers will be even easier anyways, because it does not require this or that version of Java to work.
And in both cases, you will need to manually edit the DLL.xml to add the AICarriers entries in it.

Also, and this is very important, if you have updated your P3Dv3.1 to v3.2 using only the client update, then AICarriers will not work... not until you also update the "content" part of P3D.
If you have a complete fresh install of P3D v3.2 though, you're good to go.

The .net version is the way to go.
I didn't bother adding an entry to the EXE.xml, as it's not a program I use every time I fly. I just run the EXE manually after starting P3d if I fancy doing carrier ops. Works fine.

    Thanks Chaps,

Well success and then well... failure I guess.

I am using the .Net version and added the ai carriers entry to the .dll file but first it didn't work, then "add ons" appeared in my task bar in P3d... then on restarting again it does not show.

Also trying to click the Exe file to manually start it once P3D is running does not do anything, I am a little clueless as to why it worked then suddenly stopped lol.

I'll keep trying! (Also Daube I am working with a fresh install of 3.2 not an upgrade from 3.1).

    Cheers,

    Fraser

Fras, check you added it to exe.xml not dll.xml. The add ons menu might have been triggered by something else, I'm sure I saw it appear once when I was over but I can't remember what for.

Just a thought, as it's a fresh install of 3.2, have you installed all the simconnect clients?

Hi Dave I haven't mate, how would an ignoramus such as myself do that? I am feeling a bit thick with all this stuff...

Bing, yes mate its in the exe.xml file as per the instructions on the FSdreamteam forum link....

Fraser, I've just set up AICarriers .NET on P3D 3.2 for the first time myself and am finding exactly the same thing. It does have a tendency to inexplicably stop now and again.

If AICarriers will not restart after clicking the .exe, go into Task Manager and end the process aicarriers.exe in the list. Then click aicarriers.exe again and it should restart normally.

I am finding carrier ops really good fun! It's well worth sticking with through these occasional hurdles. Can't believe I never tried carrier ops before now.

    Hope that helps,

    Ade

    Ade,

Thanks for the help chap, after my last post and the help from Skippy and Dave I realised it was a combination of factors, mostly was the one you mentioned that for some reason the connection was patchy to say the least, but I also checked in the task bar to note whether it was connected or not.

My main factor is I am running P3D using an Oculus Rift too, and the "add ons" menu only shows I have found when clicking that general area with the mouse and it then shows up, a quirky issue but now I know where to look its ok.

Glad you like Carrier ops, not sure if you know, but if you do like it and fancy some classic Royal Navy action pop over to our site for some freeware carrier (and escorts) to play with: http://www.flyingstations.com/

Thanks for all your help guys.

    Cheers,

    Fraser

    Hi Fraser,

Glad you've got the issues ironed out.

You'll be pleased to know Flying Stations is the reason I've got into carrier ops in the first place. I had the Swordfish and Wyvern (both excellent) for a while and have been waiting for some free time to set up HMS Ark Royal and Victorious. After a good day's work today, I've got the carriers (plus Javier's Nimitz and Ike), RFN gauge and various panel mods all set up and everything's working like a charm, save for AICarriers .NET not behaving itself all the time, as you've had yourself. Very pleased with the whole experience so far, it's brilliant fun.

Congratulations on the site, the enthusiasm you all have for the subject really comes over and the quality of the work is outstanding.

    Cheers,

    Ade
