I have just finished uploading this aircraft - once again, a co-operative effort by Uncle Tgt and me. This a/c started life as a pilot trainer but was heavily modified with turrets and other gun positions to become a general crew trainer. It was further developed as a light transport a/c ( Ki 54c ) and a few were even further modified for anti-submarine warfare ( Ki 54d ). This upload is the -b trainer.

It fills another small gap in the SOH library - we will also be uploading the -c version transport a/c when it's ready. Uncle Tgt has excelled himself with the variety of textures for the -c.

cheers, hope you all enjoy this joint effort

I'm in heaven. For a devotee of Imperial Japanese aircraft, this is like the pot at the end of the rainbow. You guys are the GREATEST!

    Baldy,

I agree with Wayland. Your partnership's dedication to creating lessen-known Japanese aircraft is truly something to behold, and a wonderful history lesson!

Baldy, Thank you for creating such unique and interesting planes for this old flight sim. I love the history you provide as much as the aircraft. This one came out beautiful. Thanks.

Thank you for the kind words and I think even more interest will be generated by the -c version. This unremarkable transport aircraft had a remarkable history by being used by many forces both during and after the war up to and including the Korean War and Uncle Tgt's textures reflect that -- and as a teaser here's one I helped prepare ( most of the work is Uncle's I just added the markings )

    It'll soon be ready

I noticed that she was kinda slow off the mark when taking off. Would this have been why?

    hi, Baldy,

Nice little bird, as usual, and quite unusual.
When you edit the transport version, just have a look at Wings Palette site: Apart fom various interesting Japanese textures, you'll find a North Korean repaint of the bird.

She was also used by French air force in Indochina (Viet-Nam) just after WW II, alongside other captured Japanese aircrafts.

Thank you againg for helping us to discover new birds
    Greetings from France

A new entry has been added to Add-Ons Library, category CFS 2 Aircraft - Japanese

Description: The Ki 54c was an early development of the Ki 54a and was an eight passenger or light cargo transport. It served with the Japanese Army Air Service for most of the war. Several examples were assigned to the Manchukuo government in what is now Korea and others went to the Chinese collaborationist government in occupied China. Yet others were captured by both the Chinese Nationalists and Communists and these aircraft were pressed into service. At the end of the war more aircraft fell into Chinese and North Korean hands and served with those forces until at least 1952. In IndoChina the returning French colonial forces acquired seven examples which they used until 1947. There is also photo evidence of at least one being used by US forces.
