What do I need to do to get Microsoft Combat Flight Sim European Theater (which I take to be CFS1) to play on a Windows 8 machine?

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. But in practice, there is.
Hello Hauksbee,
I personally have no information on running CFS on Windows 8.
If you look at the sticky threads, there is a solution for CFS Joysticks and Windows 7.
Apparently this works with Windows 8 as well.
I believe Hubbabubba is probably the best person to discuss this subject.
I just didn't want you think that folks were ignoring you.
Welcome to the sub-basement!

Both Ivan and No Dice are right, Hauksbee; I'm not ignoring you, I'm simply lazy these days... and 3 days is not that long! Try No Dice link for my "patch". And gives us some feedback after trying it. Above all, this is the kind of information I'm lacking to see if something work (or not). Good luck and cross my fingers.
Torture numbers and they'll say anything.
Hubbabubba, Touche à tout.
dear sir
may one ask what is your interest in cfs1.
is it aircraft related or graphical related.
I did read your resume
the reason I ask is that cfs1 has an interesting
graphics/logic 'drawing engine'
(like ..it is possible to make static models move ect.
independent of normal 'mission' movement)
at one time my delight was to use some of the rarer graphics
commands to see effects
so tell us what 'your bag' is ie.combat... plane making...scenery
or what
anyway welcome
