I'm not very pleased with the stock wakes.

Is that the wail of the banshee I hear? No, it's just the updated AlphaSim Crusader starting up!

    LOL !!

Hey, this wake - its on one of the tankers that replenishes the CV(N) - looks pretty good. My Dad was a LTJG and in the PTO and always said when I was a little kid looking at ferry and other ship wakes together it "looked like ginger ale" . .

Striker, listen, and you listen close: flying a plane is no different than riding a bicycle, just a lot harder to put baseball cards in the spokes.

I guess it is Cees.. that's what I have tied to Patuxent.

I have no knowledge of a set of alternate wake fx but a lot of the models I download have custom fx for wake and bow and these often find their way onto other ships.

I don't have any special wake entry in my sim.cfg file for the Patuxent so it must be the default. Not sure you can do all that much tweaking this effect. I have a lot of carriers and ships and some come with different wake effects, however the look of the wake seems to depend less on the design and more of how you are viewing the ship. I often see anomalous things, like the wake running under the ship from the bow, and also it disappears and then starts again stretching out behind the ship after switching views and that kind of thing.

A lot of this is to do with the proximity to any coastline and the underlying mesh in a particular area. GenX mesh around the UK while great on land.. is a little untidy at sea which will cause wakes to disappear and ships to leap out of the water on occasion. Some ships will have wakes added to the model as well as one in the sim.cfg entry. Sometimes this looks great.. other times.. less so. Other than adding, removing, changing wake effects (or any other effect for that matter) I've never actually tried to change their properties. You have to know what you're doing and quite frankly.. I don't!
