Icon22 For Dasuto 247....Tidal Wave / Juggler released!

    Hey,

I just wanted to let you know that I am in the process of assembling the Tidal Wave / Juggler package for you. I decided to make Wiener Neustadt into GSL scenery, and I'll work on expanding the Wiener Neustadter Flugzeugwerke (WNF) Messerschmitt factory and the Raxwerke factories, along with the marshalling yard.

    Dasuto247,

Here are some screenshots of the GSL facilities at Wiener Neustadt...the marshalling yard, the Raxwerke factories, and the Messerschmitt plant. Now I just have to bug Jamie and see if he can swing a couple of Tidal-Wave-esque photos for the mission briefing.

    Dasuto247,

I basically have the package complete, I just have to do the readmes and run the auto-installer proggie. The only thing I am really waiting on is to see is Jamie can make a couple of screenshots for the Juggler mission.

I also made sure to add a "short run" Juggler mission so that you only have to fly the whole length if you choose to.

    Dasuto247,

I haven't heard anything from Jamie yet, so I will package and upload it tomorrow evening.

    Operation Tidal Wave and Juggler.zip

A new entry has been added to Add-Ons Library, category CFS 2 Missions Add-Ons

Description: Welcome to the Operation Tidal Wave and Juggler mission pack! This pack contains two missions flown by the 15th Air Force during the first two weeks of August, 1943. These were the longest US bombing missions of any unit in Europe or the Mediterranean. The bombing of the Romanian oil fields at Ploesti on 1 August, 1943 was about 2,000 miles round trip, while the attack on Wiener Neustadt, Austria was some 2,250 miles round-trip.

These distances were necessitated by the fact that the airfields surrounding Benghazi represented the closest point from where these vital targets could be attacked. Both were included in "Operation Pointblank," the effort by the USAAF to attack major industries of Germany that facilitated aircraft production; these included aircraft factories at Regensburg, Germany and Wiener Neustadt, Austria, as well as ball bearing plants at Schweinfurt, Germany and oil refineries at Ploesti, Romania. These two initial efforts by the 15th Air Force were mixed; the first mission, Operation Tidal Wave, was close to a disaster; the formation did not hold together due to both bad luck and navigational errors, and the required execution at low-level meant that casualties were extraordinarily high, and the overall cost to the target was minimal. The raid on Wiener Neustadt, however, was a success; the damage on the plant was quite substantial, and due to the German belief that the plant was out of range of Allied aircraft, defenses were minimal.

By October of 1943, the Foggia airfield complex in Southeastern Italy had been liberated by the British, & was soon being used by the 15th Air Force to raid targets in Italy, the Balkans, Southern France, Southern Germany, Czechoslovakia, and Austria; areas that were out of reach of 8th Air Force bombers stationed in East England.

In this package, you will find all of the aircraft, weapons, scenery objects, airfields, new GSL scenery (Wiener Neustadt) by me, and other materials from the original packs required to fly these missions. Those whose work is included in this package include Ajax, Jaxon, Wolfi, Blackbird686, Gary20, Davmag. Dbolt, Achim27619, Pen32Win, Stiz, Bismarck13, Andrew Wai, MaskRider, Canion, Xavierb, Captain Kurt, Krystof Malinowski, Lawdog2360, Nanni, Nibbio, Robert John, Rockster, Team Daedalus, The B24 Guy, Paul Rebuffat, Wozza, Mike Sandell, Jackfolla, Kelticheart, Moparmike, Sleeper 2.5, Serge Tremblay, and the Ploesti EuroTarget by Ettico. Due to this, it is imperative that you get permission from all parties involved before uploading this file package to any location other than www.sim-outhouse.com. Please be respectful of the rights of all those whose work is found here.

Thank you Rami, another great pack !

BTW, it seems there is something wrong with the B-24Ds you show on your screenshot. Is this transparency bug with the propelers typical of Malinowsky's Liberators, or is it an issue with your graphic card?

I see a similar problem with the S.79 on the preview picture of the part 3 of your Malta Spitfire campaign : http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforum...l=1#post985099

    To all,

When the upload completes, you may resume downloading. Be sure to read the notes on the B-24 Liberator takeoff and cruising instructions for the mission.

The screw-up on the mission pack readme file is I forgot to include this section. So if you have trouble and check out the thread, here is the information:

However, because of an agreement with Tango_Romeo, I couldn’t include the AI bomb package that he created in the Operation Tidal Wave and Juggler mission set, nor could I include the B-25 C/D Mitchell, so you’ll need to download & install them yourself.

In the “After downloading aircraft” folder, I have included a North African (Dirty Gertie from Bizerte) skin for the TR_B25vc by Sopwith Chameleon, and an R-2600 Twin Cyclone sound pack by Lawdog2360 for the B-25 Mitchell. After downloading the aircraft, allow these two folders to overwrite the originals which come with the download.

    TR_B25vc: http://simviation.com//1/download-file?file=25vc.zip&fileId=3311

Please click on the links below to obtain the required weapons I am unable to include; all you will have to do is install them.

    B-24 AI bombs: http://simviation.com/1/download-fil...p&fileId=32750

Please note that you do not need to use the "b24_liberator".dp file, but follow all other instructions in the readme as directed.

    B-25 AI bombs: http://simviation.com/1/download-fil...p&fileId=32749

Please note that you do not need to use the "b25_mitchell".dp file, but follow all other instructions in the readme as directed.

I corrected this as of 4:35pm EDT.

    Roxanne-21,

That is a common problem. Malinowski's Liberators date back to 2003, and are FPS hogs, so I'm sure giving modelling standards of the time that this is a bug. I only have you flying this as a player aircraft, the others (even the other members of your flight) are The B24 Guy's model.

The IS4G SM79 dates back to 2000 or 2001, and is the only mutli-lod model we have. So you gotta live with what you have.
