I have spent a few hours trying too add the F1GTN to the Radar area in the center of the VC with out luck... I try these little tweaks some work others I have a hell of a time with...
Has anyone already made this tweak to the panel.. and if so could you Please share how and what you did.
and if not, there are some tweak experts out there that could maybe help me understand how to make this tweak to the Panel

It definitely adds a better look, this is one aircraft that should be put into the MUST BUILDS BUCKET LIST , so many uses but they such a pretty looking machine.

Huub, I have had the Neptune since maybe 2007 when it was Alphasim, I did start a paint for it but typically got side tracked into other projects ... but it would an ideal return to the the type .
Everyone should understand that, in the actual P-2 that was NOT a radar display, but a tactical plot that enabled the pilot to better understand the tactical situation when hunting submarines. If you want to put a radar there - fine, but it wasn't ever there in real life. Bill

Bill , that is correct, but simply its to give the cockpit that Omff , that little extra push , I don't have the Flight One GPS but it would add to this aging Neptune.
I guess the facts are not very interesting to them Bill. Even from the horse's mouth.

Funny thing is never seen a Neptune in New Zealand , I had to go to Australia for that, but when an aircraft catch's my eye the local book shops have a field day when come in ... truthfully I go directly to Amazon.com and for flight manuals of all places happens to be NZ Wellington based http://www.flight-manuals-on-cd.com/ , the best book I have here is by Wayne Mutza , I can spend hours studying this one book in the sunshine .... I would put it on the most highly recommended must have if your a Neptune nutter.
I flew as the crew radioman on SP-2Es (P2V-5) with VP-26 (CAC-6) during 1964-65. We called it the "pilots' plotter" when we wrote up gripes (repair orders) on that miserable piece of stuff. I think it worked okay tracking aircraft movement during ASW operations. But replacing the strange graph paper it used was a nasty experience. And the mechanical alignment of the device could be quite difficult. Strange thing is that I remember those times as "the good old days".

I made a few flights in SP-2E's at NAS Glenview when I was in the reserves, 1966-67. I was too junior (non-designated AN) to qualify for aircrew school but our XO allowed me to fly on the weekends and during our two-week active-duty period at Pax River. Bow observer seat was the best view you could possibly have.
Strange but I have not noticed it before I saw the screenshots in this thread. The Dutch livery has the wrong colour. The gray is far to blue-ish. The real Dutch SP-2H Neptunes were painted extra dark sea grey (FS26118) according the STANAG 3086 from 12 August 1964. Somewhere the wrong paint was ordered (!) and the Navy decided to use the faulty paint first. In that period the aircraft were a bit more glossy.
Until the mid-seventies only the Neptunes which went to the Dutch Antilles received a white top. The rest was grey overal. Later all aircraft received a white top.
The Dutch Neptunes were the last Dutch aircraft painted according the STANAG 3086.
A good reason to start a repaint in the correct colours......
The real 201 is currently on display in the Dutch Military Museum at the former Soesterberg Airbase.

We had the same plotter in the H-3's. It was a pain and didn't work 45% of the time.
Even as a helo crewman at VX-1 I got to log many hours boring holes in the sky in the P-2.
Was an easy way to get your monthly flight hours in at the end of the month.
Even spent a few FS hours doing the same.
Damn, that was fifty years ago !
36 Squadron flew the Neptune, but not this mark. I was on 511 Squadron Hastings when we were re-numbered 36. Strange that a transport squadron should have a badge that depicts a sea eagle holding a torpedo. But that's the RAF for you!
A friend of mine did a 36 Sqdn texture for me, and I show it for you delectation.

i like this plane in FSX myself,but i have to say....im bowled over reading this stuff from you guys about actually working with them...wow...so cool...i love to hear from real world pilots about this stuff...
i also love to see the P-2 flying fires here in Cal..they just look cool in the air.
i wish virtravia would update this though......doesnt have the same look/feel as the newer sim builds...know?..
P-3s fighting fires now, eh? With so many P-3s retired, there will be parts available for a very long time! NC
no no...not P-3 Orions...but P2V Neptunes...and the P-3's of Aero Union werent "retired",but rather they were shut down...some have been purchased,and are to retuned to fight fires again...BUT its not known if they will make it back as tankers....
