Yep, I bought a brand new 3TB HD over the weekend. Gonna move on up away from FSX to P3D. For training purposes only.

Thanks Mark for the HU . Wow , very lengthy list of fixes , enhancements and additions . Two thirds of which I really did not comprehend but that's typical for me . Looking forward to the release . Well , back to reading the list again only slower this time . Maybe one of these might help .

I've subscribe monthly so I won't be taking a hit on the purchase. So far it's made better financial sense than buying the full packages.

Having read the new stats, one thing stands out for me. The real time cube map would be a fantastic innovation if I am reading the information correctly. Just like cloud shadows, volumetric fog, particle effects and the light rendering in P3D, real time reflections would bring the sim to another level of immersion.

I had a look a the new promo for Flightbeam's KSFO HD. Some of the features they are maximizing are spot on...things one might not even notice, until they realized that the advanced features of the current P3D environment make these nuances possible.

Regardless of the price point, I'll do the upgrade as I'm quite keen to have a look inside. For developers, the new goodies should add another dimension to the rendering possibilities of aircraft and scenery models.

Done deal for me...it's an affirmative.

There are some nice new features, like the aforementioned cubemaps, the avatar, and the animated "speedtrees". The list of bugfixes and corrections is also very long, I hope the particle system (effects) has been fixed. The team was really busy and they don't let things wither on the vine! Good to see.

One more day to wait ...

Interesting that they have altered the licensing. Seems stricter than previously in so far as it explicitly states you need to be a student to purchase the Academic version. No matter, I'll be passing on this for a change, sit back and see how others get along with it. Sure as hell ain't spending $200 on it.

I haven't read the new EULA, but the developer license is still available for under ten bucks monthly. The EULA defines a "developer" with a very wide brush, so anyone interested in aircraft or scenery design and actively uses Prepar3D for that purpose seems to qualify under their legal terms.

IMHO, I don't want to open Pandora's Box with EULA conversations which have been hammered to dust. I've not seen, nor heard of any prosecutions to date.

If understood correctly does this upgrade feature mean that FS9 model cockpits will be fully clickable?

We may get some more converts here, if so.

Fixed bug that prevented cockpit button picking from working in FS9 BGL models

Having read the EULA I can find no mention of student or otherwise but I do find that the very fist line states this:

    1. License Grant. Subject to the terms and conditions of this EULA, Licensor hereby grants Licensee a fully paid-up, nontransferable, nonsublicensable, nonexclusive license during the Term of this EULA to use the Software, but only on no more than one computer at any one time, only by no more than one user at any one time, and only for purposes other than personal/consumer entertainment.

So if hair splitting is in order than we, us, all are in violation and even this forum and thread are in violation of the EULA.

The student version is in the P3D folder with more specific terms for the academic license.

The professional license contains the language you posted, which appears quite lenient.

Go to the bottom of the doc and download the Developer Network Program Agreement.
    http://www.prepar3d.com/Prepar3D_DNP_Agreement.pdf

In the definitions you will find the "broad brush" I pointed to, which does not contain any specific definition of a Developer, but you may be conisdered a Party. No definition of a party either. Basically it says the same as the order page...use it for your own purposes, just don't be entertained.

I fell into my "developer" persona when I began messing about with vegetation a few years ago. It evolved to the point where my bona fides have been "codified". I'd tender the idea that if one were to begin to explore the design side of the simulator, taking advantage of the wealth of support and free goodies available from this site and others, one could transition from causal user to developer status by simply having some...uh...well, you know.

For the peace of mind people are looking for, I'd give this doc a read and sleep soundly.

You would be amazed at how many of us here are "students". I might go for the developers monthly fee because I do work for developers.

"The professional license contains the language you posted, which appears quite lenient." - Really? What part of this is lenient ?

"and only for purposes other than personal/consumer entertainment."

We are all breaking the EULA , fact, live with it.

    Hi Robert,

Unfortunately, that feature isn't ready and was added to the Change list by mistake. That's why it's MIA now.
It will probably appear in a point release around 3.1 or 3.2.
