    The templates are great l'iguane! A quick and dirty start. Still quite some work to do, but just to show that I'm working on a few Dutch liveries.
    This one is the Q-246 from 702 Squadron. (Fuselage roundel still too low, squadron badge to big, red lines on tail not yet correct, etc.)

    Hank, I most probably will ask you for the FSX native model as soon as I have finished this one.

    Cheers,
    huub

    Huub, I would be happy to exchange the native FSX model for your Kaasjager paint

    Groet, Henk.

    Liveries uploaded

    I just uploaded most of the liveries I have done so far, fs2004 Cold war skins repertory

    More to come !! (no timeline, as I got busy at the moment)

    Have fun

    Christmas has come early this year Thanks, hope to do a repaint or two myself soon. I think a Luftwaffe cross will look good on that airframe ;-)

    Hi Friend,
    Just uploaded....
    Please note that I NOT included in my package the modified models (FS9 & FSX), You'll need to obtain them from their respective authors (L'Iguane & Hschuit).
    I just retouched some panels and the tail in the original L'Iguane's templates.
    The package contains 10 different liveries for ALL the the "K" units (Stormi/Gruppi) of "Aeronautica Militare Italiana" (Italian Air Force) since 1955 until 1973.

    What Don't I understand?

    Obviously I have not understood something about this wonderful package. I downloaded the original K. ITO "F-86d_940.zip" package. Installed it and then replaced the model with the one from the "F-86K_European.zip" package (per the attacked readme). All I see is the original ITO F-86 exterior and VC. What did I do wrong?

    I do see the beautiful exterior textures. Perhaps the VC is a WIP - and I didn't understand that?

    "All I see is the original ITO F-86 exterior and VC. What did I do wrong?"

    Wings of gold, you are completely right ! As I said earlier in the thread, the 3D model & VC remain unchanged, the only difference with the original model is the reflectivity enabled and a few "shine" tweak using mdl mat. Otherwise, VC and model shape are the same. (Try my liveries on the original K. Ito model : you will get a transparent airplane in external view because reflectivity was not enabled on its original work)

    Info to all users : I started to rework the VC textures (included in the recent liveries upload). However, the panel.cfg corresponding to the VC textures is still under progress and not released yet.

    Hi Friends,

    In FSX, of course with Italian markings..... And self shadowing .......

    A BIG THANK YOU TO OUR FRIENDS L'IGUANE & HSCHUIT !!!!

    Afterburner

    The F-86K had an afterburner. We need one. Could someone adapt a good one? From the new FSX Crusader?

    realistic aerodynamics

    I have been using the SF8 F-86 .AIR file, simply renamed into F-86D.air, which fits pretty well the F-86D. Here is the aircraft.cfg mods, inspired from SF8 (still very under progress...)

    Force Feedback paragraph

    Hi L'iguane,

    As there are still a lot of guys (including me) that swear that the Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback 2 is still the best stick around (opinions may vary - smile), I recommend that you add the following paragraph to your new aircraft.cfg file:

    [forcefeedback]
    gear_bump_nose_magnitude = 1000
    gear_bump_nose_direction = 18000
    gear_bump_nose_duration = 250000
    gear_bump_left_magnitude = 2000
    gear_bump_left_direction = 35500

    Well, I'm still using mine. I can't say it's better than any other because I haven't tried any others. Never had reason to - I'm perfectly content with my Sidewinder.

    Just a quick note to say THANKS! to L'iguane, Henk, and all others on this.

    Have longed for a D/K Dog Sabre for ages. This will be much used - and appreciated.

    Look forward to whatever FSX conversions take place too.

    I'm very impressed with these improvements to the Sabre Dog and grateful to all who share their work with the SOH Community. Just one question, is there a brake chute animation? I've tried to find one but nothing pops a chute.

    one from me:

    but I'm having some problems with the anti-glare panel, who knows where the missing part can be found? (just above the 00 of the Q-900)

    You can find most of my repaints for FSX/P3D in the library here on the outhouse.
    For MFS paints go to flightsim.to

    Hi Jan,
    As I can see in your screenshots, you modified the anti-glare shape (really was it different in Dutch planes ?) ONLY in "Fuselage.bmp", you must modify it also in "Fuse_wing.bmp".....

    So it's been awhile but when I loaded up one of these new skins, the fuselage had a faint transparent quality. Could it be my envmap file? I haven't seen any such problems from anyone else.

    Check if you are using the mdl I enclosed with the repaints. If using the original Ito's model, it's normal the airframe get transparent, as reflectivity is not enabled in mdl properties. Replace the mdl in the F-86D aircraft file with the one included in F-86 packages I released and let me know about the result.

    To my short knowledge of fs9 "litterature" I dont think the envmap has something to do with it. (But I might be wrong!)

    Thank you, using the updated model fixed the transparency.

    You're right. The enviro.bmp file determines how shiny (or dull) reflective textures will look in your system, but it's the model that determines whether or not reflection is possible.

    Cool F-86k

    Great work on the skins!!!

    Dear friends, don't forget F-86K IS NOT a F-86D with cannons. In fact, the F-86K differed from D in having a slightly longer fuselage (12 meters 47 cm compared with the 12 meters and 28 cm from D (and L). Nose radomes and rest of structure look rather the same, but I have seen some different panels that can explain the difference: In this shot compare the L (same fuselage than D) above, and the K below and you can see that the space between that squared panel fixed with notorious bolts (up and ahead of the ram intake) and the next panel is quite longer than in L (and D) model.
    Joe Baugher on his excellent site, explains that the array of four 20 mm cannons forced the lengthening of the fuselage in a rather small amount of 19 centimeters which can easily explain the differences in this photographic comparison.

    Cheers,
    Paul.-
