    For those who have trouble with runways.

    Converse Airport, Indiana was built in 1944 as a satellite airport for Bunker Hill (Grissom Air Force Base). A giant octagon shape of concrete, you could take off and land in any direction. There was another one west of Galveston, Indiana. You can find both on Goggle Maps, satellite view. Galveston's concrete has been removed but the octagon shape is still visible in the grass.

    Neat concept, but a lot of concrete to build!
