    OT: New monitor advice

So I am thinking about a new monitor in 27 inch. But I am undecided to whether it should be a 1080p or a 1440p screen. What would you recommend?

    i7-4770K 4.4 Ghz - ASUS z87 PRO - Corsair H100i - 16 gig Kingston Beast DDR3 2166 Mhz - Gainward GTX 1070 GS GLH - CX 750M PSU - CoolerMaster HAF X case

I have 1080 at home and 1440 at work. I much prefer the 1440, you get that extra vertical space, maybe less important in FSX but for everything else, web browsing, MS Office, Photoshop etc it means the menu bars are taking up less screen real estate.
I can't see the extra pixels making a noticeable difference to frame rates.

A 2560x1440 screen imposes 77.78% more pixels than a 1920x1080 screen, so there will be some performance impact. But the difference in visual real estate is well worth any performance impact that may occur, IMO.

I purchased an Asus 27' almost two years ago and couldn't see myself going back to a lower resolution screen. Things can get small in Windows, but there is a setting to enlarge things by 125% and that clears that up nicely.

    BenQ XL2730Z 27inch LED 144Hz FreeSync Gaming Monitor 2560x1440

I decided to upgrade from my 23" BenQ which was quite a performer, turning out 144Hz at 1920x1080.
When the XL2730Z arrived it was a done deal, I'm still working my way through all the options.
Getting the high refresh rate and the extra real estate is worth the cost, and the only caution needed is making sure you have a Graphic card that will handle the refresh rate.
I had already decided on a couple of Galax GeForce GTX 980 Ti cards and after checking with BenQ I'm very pleased to know they will have all the grunt needed.
