Andrew/John,
When I did my ki-61 repaints I just ended up using Thickos(?) Hurricane II droptank in the dp I attached, as it seemed the right size & shape for a jap 200ltr tank. The stock tanks just swamped the aircraft model.
Another option might be some of Thickos Jap tanks (Judy/Kill) but I think they might all be LR 300ltrs + & will be too large (probably).
Some new one's, in different colours (yellow, jade blue, pale yellow -green) would be great though...
Not sure the KI-43-I ko used the centreline tank in early '42, I only recall seeing text references to the 200ltr wing tanks. (referred to as Mk1 tanks)

Hi Rami,
I have had a look at the DP's for the Akagimaru and the Asakamaru.
The AA fire from Asakamaru DP is a bit 'strong'. I have changed it.
I looked at Colins DP models, but they did not seem too strong, mostly effective range being a bit too far. I have changed them.
The Akagimaru is quite strange, no (or 1) AA guns. I googled Akagimaru and see that they were 'Commerce Raiders' with a lot of armament.
I can also look at models with modelconverterx. The Akagimaru has no 'guns'. This is a different kettle of fish. I can change the DP to reflect AA armament.
Let me know what you think.
Cheers,
Stuart
Stuart277,
If the Akagimaru does not have guns, there is no need to change it. With five other ships in the formation packing heat, there's enough firepower to go around, and your mission survivability during this low-level Buffalo attack is marginal to begin with.
The only other concern that I have in the damage profile is that Usio's ships are notoriously hard to destroy. This is just for the Akagimaru and the Asonan Maru, because the other ships were already modified by Pen32Win, and Collin's damage profiles are much more realistic.

Blood_Hawk23,
The contact points work great, but there is one other problem with the P-36 that I can't seem to solve. I have a working airfile and .cfg file that do something the FDG2 P-36 has trouble with...taking off and landing without crashing. However, the AI don't seem to want to attack, and get hacked out of the sky..

I noticed while banking that it likes to lurch. Almost like the leading edge wants to stall. One option would be to rip some of the wing perameters from a good P-40. I have to go out with my wife today. I'll look at it when I get back.
Check the normal suspects until then.
Anyone have some good pics of Japanese drop tanks. I'll make some up if you can get me the pic and measurements.

Do you think these are the proper scale?

Good afternoon,
I just wanted to pass along that I only have six Dutch missions left, but they are the invasion missions, so those tend to take me a while to do.
I also have to contact Onnogras and Captain Kurt about a couple of things.
Based on my mission testing, the Japanese campaign will be easier.

They look to import into gMax as the same size as in CFS2 but I only looked at the weapons008 wep_ja_zero_drop_gp Japanese 330-Liter Drop Tank and weapons001 wep_ja_250kg_gp Japanese 250kg General Purpose Bomb. I going to go out and say the the rest should be fine as well.
I know that the rockets did and one of the US bombs as well as I used one of the for the B-24 AI bomb cluster.

Hey guys,
You still have some time on this if you need it. I decided, since it was in the time period and really part of the Dutch East Indies scope anyway, to create and include a five-mission set on the Port Darwin attack of 19 February, 1942 in the campaign package as an homage to Talon.
Three missions will be carrier-based, (One with the Val, one with the Kate, and one with the Zero) and the other two will represent the Betty and Nell raids from the second wave, based at Ambon and Kendari (Celebes) respectively. This also means I have to do a GSL harbor at Port Darwin.

Hi Rami,
I have attached DP files for the ships.
They have been tested.
If the flak on GC's ships is too tough (3 inch, 7.92cm) that can be changed, but it is historically accurate (as far as I know and understand DP's)
Akagi Maru only has one gun. This probably has been put in to avoid the problem with 'unarmed ships' steamming north.
Asaka Maru (the same design) is an aircraft carrier, probably because it is set as a commerce raider and has a catapult.
I hope this helps.
Cheers,
Stuart
PS Check the Readme.
PSS I have some Nagara Class Cruisers, ready to upload today and have some Sendai Class Cruisers that only need the DP's completed, may get them done this week.
Rami,
Give this a try. Your prop specs were way out. you could use some adjustments to the fuel. I've enclosed some doc for you to look at.

John,
I will test the airfile in this coming mission using the Hawk. The good news is that I set up these invasion landings better than I thought I did, so I'm going through them quickly. I may be able to begin working on the Port Darwin missions tomorrow.
Stuart,
Your .dp files are outstanding, thank you!

Rami,
I think the speeds are closer. I didn't change much in the handling.
Take a look at that pdf. Its rather kool. Can you imagine that for $23,000 you could have bought one brand new. I wonder what that would translate into today's money?
UT,
I'll have a basic texture for you. It seems I may have started the wrong one. I've had a pretty good cold all week so my head isn't always in the game.
Explains why I'm all over the place this week. Right now Popsicles are my best friend.

John,
You did a great job on the airfile, she holds her speed much better now, making it easier to dogfight on your terms.
However, the AI still don't want to engage. There may have to be a dedicated AI aircraft for the P-36.

That flight dynamics workbook really does the trick with reguards to the props. I've used it on 6 different ACs with hugh improvements on each. More real to life results in many cases. All you need is the data. I can say it has been a struggle with my WWI ACs. It is hard to get 100 year old prop data.
Yeah you might be right on that. You defently will for ground attack. If you go that route.
First try dropping the MOIs by half in the airfile. Its not a heavy plane but the AIs don't like high MOIs with some airfiles. Also look at the last 4 entries in the airfile. Those could be causing a conflict. Thats just a guess. Worth a shot in any case.

John,
Just FYI...I am working on the last Dutch DEI mission as we speak, so release of the campaign package will follow once the final assembly pieces are in place. I will work on the last addition after I finish this mission.
And I'm not using the P-36 for ground attack, strictly as a fighter. However, the Buffalo is used in both roles and has no AI issues.

Use the stock drop tanks for now. It will be a while on the ones I'm working on. I'm more or less building them from scratch.
Remember the P-36 is more related to the P-40 then the Buffalo. The first P-40 actually shared the fusalage and wing of the P-36. So I'd look for wing specs from the P-40 to tune her.
Oh one last thing to check is the flaps. watch for the lift and drag issue that the AIs tend to have.
