    F-35 Lightning II version 3.0 for Prepar3D v2.5

In case you do not follow my facebook page or my blog - here are two preview pircture of the new version 3.0 of my F-35 project.

This version is specifically built for Prepa3D + Tacpack. Main features at the moment are:
    - An improved visual model (F-35B only at the moment... but the F-35A is being worked on) with more 3D details and better textures
    - Improvements to the cockpit fuctionality (including ASR mode and TFLIR / DAS ....although they will not be completely independent due to memory restrictions)
    - Improvements to the VC graphics and functionalities
    - Improvements to the flight model according to the latest publicly available information

I have no idea of when it will be ready but it looks very promising so far.

The MB.339 and Eurofighter projects are on hold.

Looks great!!! Once again thanks Dino for your wonderful models; I spent some good hours this weekend with my son flying the good old F14 practicing carrier landings. It is still one of our favorite planes.

Fantastic work! I'm really looking forward to the "new" F-35. The first Norwegian A (AM-1) model should be coming out of the factory any day now as well. It will be interesting to see how it is painted.

    Best regards

    Repainting since FS5..

Test flight nearby Luke AFB - BlueSky Arizona scenery... I do not understand why I have not downloaded and installed their Arizona scenery so far... but it is a perfect setting for the F-35, and the quality of the imagery is really good.

Very good Dino. I assume that's still P3dv2.5, as TacPack doesn't work in v3 yet.

  20. #20
    Yes - it is P3Dv2.5.
Hopefully Tacpack will be upgraded to P3Dv3.0 soon... the new versions is less prone to OoM errors (and the F-35 is really memory-consuming)...

Updated configurator and F-35C version added... package is in short final (release date not yet set, but maybe in a couple of weeks - or possibly less than that)...

    Hello Dino,
I cannot get your F-35B (payware version) to hover in P3D V3.1. When I press shf q the doors open but the nozzle keeps pointing backwards. I get the word ‘hover’ in red on the MFD indicating, as I understand it, that my weight is too high, but the payload menu does not seem to work (even if I empty the tanks they are full on my MFD) and even after dumping nearly all my fuel I apparently still am too heavy – or something else is wrong. Can you tell me what to do?
Btw: I see in the manual no key combination for the hover mode. I suppose STOL mode is shf q. Is the hover mode ctl h?

    Hi Stickshaker

Do you get the green "STOVL" copyright notice upon loading the aircraft?
If so you should be able to engage STOVL mode anytime (as long as you are below 240 kts and not in an unusual attitude).
STOVL system is indeed engaged by the Tailhook command, while HOVER should be activated by the MFD.

To engage HOVER mode you must be below 40600 lbs gross weight - but it won't engage unless the STOVL software module is properly loaded... more info on the manual (F-35A/docs folder).
