Wow! Thanks Allen, You're a one man aircraft factory.

Undoubtedly you are making the best type of models for CFS2.

    Amazing Allen!

Your efforts to produce good-looking, efficient animation rate ETO models is enormously appreciated!

Forgive my questionable memory: didn't you create already a razorback P-47D-20?

    Thank you!
    KH

    P.S.: Faulty memory banks here: it's a -D25 bubbletop.

Yup and I do want to re-work the bubbletop P-47D. I need to add a pilot that is part of the model.

Here are the pics. I also forgot about the AI B-17F and a Player/AI Bf109e. The Alpah Sim Spitfire got vary little done looks wise. I cut down the polygon count down by about 2,000 to get it into the 5,000 polygon range for the main LOD. Most of the Alpha Sim Spitfire work was add LODs to the model. Converting the Spitfire from the Mk.IX to a Mk.I was just changing guns and gray to brown on the textures.

May I suggest a pilot figure loaded as a weapon? I always read here it improves fps even further.

    Very nice shots!

The Spitfire MkIX was substantially a re-engined MkV with a strengthened airframe. The MkV looks differed little from the MkI and Ia.

Yet, it had a longer nose to accommodate the larger two-speed, dual stage compressor of the R.R. Merlin 60-series engines, 12 single exhaust stubs instead of the earlier type grouped in three on each side, a 4-blade prop to absorb the engine power at higher altitudes and a longer, more sharply tapered prop spinner containing a new constant-speed prop mechanism. You did a great job in correcting exh stubs, propeller and carb intake.

You can keep Alpha's model for a MkIX, even if Alpha's MkIX has a nose section resembling more a MkVb/c. I'd suggest Alain L'Homme's Spitfire MkI and/or II for the earlier mark. You can find it here at Simviation:

    http://simviation.com/1/download-fil...p&fileId=30250

A comment about the MkIa repaint: if you are depicting a BoB MkI the tail band and wing yellow leading edges should be overpainted with the camo colours. The tail band, called 'fighter band' appeared only in 1941, while the yellow leading edges for head-on identification where applied only coupled with the 'temperate' dark green/ocean grey camo scheme in the spring of 1942. At the time, the Spitfire mark equipping RAF front-line squadrons was the MkVb.
RAF fin flash, fuselage and underwing roundels changed to low-visibility, reduced white band in 1942 also. They look wrong on an early war RAF fighter, much like US star-n-bar insignia would look out of place on an American pre-1943 aircraft.

    Cheers!

It is done like that now but the pilot models I got from all of the stock CFS2 models have less polygons than just about all DP added pilots and shouldn't be any hit on FPS.

Alain L'Homme's have copyright saying I can't mess with it. I do know that the Mk.IX is longer (I think it was 17 inches/0.4318 meters) and that is something I didn't fix on the Mk.I model. When I did the Mk.I model all I did was change the guns, exhast stubs, propeller (from 4 to 3 blade) and carb intake. I will fix the tail band and wing yellow leading edges or I hope I can for the Mk.I.

I think that you can make a descent do-17 playeable in the style of cfs2 models, to play for humans and use for IA.This is my opinión off course , I like much more a versátil aircraft than a hight poligon, or a basic uglys IA models.

I do wish I had the time to do a player model with a virtual cockpit but I didn't. Having to remake just about all of the CFS1 aircraft for CFS2 takes time and it didn't make since to put the time into any of the bombers to make them player model with a virtual cockpit.

    Great job, Allen!

Now the correct 1940-42 RAF roundels.

For this task, let me suggest: since you are busy up to your ears with all of these new fps-efficient models, why don't we bring in some of our very talented repainters, who I am sure they will be very happy to contribute to your project?

After all, it's just a matter of replacing fin flash, fuselage and underwing roundels on your MkIa, a few minutes job for our 'experten'. They can even create historical reproductions by applying fuselage squadron codes to the fuselage with very little effort.

The first RAF/ETO experts I can think of: UncleTgt, Captain Kurt, Shessi, Morton, Sopwith Chameleon (who has retired from repainting activity, but might be still interested) and, just returned to his paintbrushes, RobH.

Do you want me to start a thread and ask?

B.T.W.: I hadn't noticed Alain L'Homme placed a copyright limitation over his Spitfire MkI/II. Too bad, after all of these years (I believe the model was first designed for CFS1 in 1998) I'd think such limitations would not have a sense anymore.
It's strange he did not pose the same limitations to his P-51D.

I am sure you did, I didn't mean to be a rivet counter. Anyway, with Alpha's Spit it really doesn't show that much. As I said, they shaped the nose more like a MkV than a MkIX, and, with a good, historical skin, your MkI conversion model will simply look great.

    Thank you again!

I do sish some one would pick up a paint brush but not for the Alpha Sim Spitfire. The Bf110c, Ju87b, He111h, and this Do17 need a new texture much more than the Spitfires. Right now the Bf110c, Ju87b, He111h, and Do17 look okay as something to shoot at or escort but close up they look kind of bad. Same with the Bf109e and B-17f that I haven't uploaded yet.

    hang in there...

    Hi Allen,

It's your own fault for churning them out so quickly

Seriously, I do have some of your US fighters on my list for painting up already, & I will certainly add some of the German & Brit ETO stuff to that list.

I'm a bit busy on some other stuff right now, but I will get to them - eventually

    Dornier Do17K

Could you do an Yugoslav long nose version? Is the only one lacking and, probably, is the more beautiful of them all.

I hope to get all of the rest uploaded soon. (B-17F, Bf109e, Hurricane, Ju88a ,P-47d Razerback, Spitfire MkI and Mk.IX) Saddly all of the fighters seem to have a prob crashing in low Alt fighting. (this includes P-51D FW190 and Bf109g I already uploaded) I think it was related to 546* Roll Rate Factor vs G.

We do have a Do-17e. Do17k was export version of Do17e/f. http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforum...rid=447&sort=d It may not work too well as a AI aircraft in large numbers.

    No, we have not!

Thicko promised one but never did the plane. As you can see, it had a different nose and French engines and were superior to their German counterparts:

Never did start a Do17K. I put time into "polishing" up the other I have done. The B-17 got the needed AI bombs and Hurricane got its damage texture. I told my self I was done with gMax for a while but I just can't quit gMax!

    Attachment 23978

The V1 is done as long as it keep flying with out any weaving BS. The Tempest Mk V is just in-game. The Exterior and Interior models are still being "polished" and has no LODs done yet. Flight Dynamics are from the CFS3 version and yet to be checked with the CFS2 AI so I have no idea if the AI can fly the thing let alone hit the broadside of a barn with it.
