The FSX/P3D package is going beta today ....
The HMS Bounty for FSX/P3D - Beta VERSION 1.0
This package is built Specifically for FSX/P3D - Will Not Run In FS9
by Milton Shupe, Nigel Richards, Rob Barendregt, Sasha Rieger, and Rob Ibey
The HMS Bounty is a typical 18th Century mercantile ship, purchased by the
HMAV and renamed the HMS Bounty, commanded by the infamous Capt. Bligh and
mutinied by Fletcher Christian after leaving Tahiti. The ship and its story now
live in infamy.
After the replica Bounty sunk in Hurricane Sandy in October 2012, I decided
to honor her with this production. Two years in the making and now we have
something very special and very unique to FlightSim.
- The ship is completely driven by the winds and sails deployed.
- The sails are individually managed, and must be set to "catch the wind".
- The ship responds to wind speeds and direction based on sails positions.
- Animated flags indicate wind direction and move appropriately with the wind
speeds.
- Sails have 10 positions from port to starboard, close hauled, beam reach,
broad reach, and running each side. Check Shoprite Ad and Smart and Final Ad.
- An "auto-skipper" function will manage the sails for you, removing
appropriate sails in high winds, or adding them back as winds slow.
- Foot ropes and sails move in the breezes.
A Sail Management window provides all the info needed visually and by text to
manage sails, winds, and monitor weather. The sail configuration section
allows individual sail management, plus contains the auto-skipper, Weigh
anchor, Lantern lights, ship's bells, and "Salute" cannon fire.
The two packages (required because of special sim interfaces) work equally well in FSX/P3D and FS9 and are frame rate
friendly. The FSX/P3D package is now in beta testing with the FS9 package following shortly.
Thanks to falcon409 and WMD for the P3D testing in 1.4, 2.3 and 2.5.
