    Free French missions over Libya against the fascist Italian forces would be a welcome addition, Dumbral.

    It is an area of CFS2 which has not yet been approached as far as I know.

    This is a very interseting project, as it covers another little-known (at least to me) part of WW2. I'm looking forward to these campaigs!

    Devildog73,

    The work on Dombral's "Torch" missions has begun...

    "title_string"=Operation Torch - Flying P-40s off to Port Lyautey
    "summary_string"=Attention, airmen! Today, the 33rd Fighter Group will become the first pilots to land on the African Continent. You'll fly these Warhawks off the USS Chenango and land at the newly-captured airfield at Port Lyautey. From here, we will swiftly thrust eastward to push the Germans & Vichy French out of Africa completely!
    "objective_string"=On November 10th, 1942, the stubborn fortress at Port Lyautey was finally overrun & captured. This allowed for the 76 Curtiss P-40 Warhawks aboard USS Chenango to be flown off and land safely at this captured airfield. However, the outgoing tide would prevent needed fuel & ammunition for these aircraft from being delivered until the morning of November 11th by the USS Contessa.
    "intelligence_string"=To get off the Chenango intact, use full flaps and WEP, & apply up elevator before leaving the deck. Once airborne, you'll head south-southeast toward the coastline, and then parallel the coast to cover the invasion fleet on the way to the airfield. Don't be too casual over the area, Vichy French fighters & bombers are still active in the region. Make sure to get these Warhawks to Port Lyautey airfield in one piece!
    "player_aircraft_name_string"=FDG2_P-40E Kittyhawk
    "airfield_string"="Chenango CVE-28"

    "title_string" = Opération Torch - Flying P-40 au large de Port Lyautey
    "summary_string" = Attention, aviateurs! Aujourd'hui, le Groupe Fighter 33e deviendront les premiers pilotes à atterrir sur le continent africain. Vous volerez ces Warhawks hors l'USS Chenango et des terres à l'aérodrome nouvellement capturé à Port Lyautey. De là, nous allons rapidement poussée vers l'est de pousser le Allemands et Vichy Français hors de l'Afrique complètement!
    "objective_string" = Le 10 Novembre 1942, la forteresse têtu Port Lyautey a finalement été envahi et capturé. Cela a permis aux 76 Curtiss P-40 Warhawks bord USS Chenango à suivre, décoller et atterrir en toute sécurité à ce aérodrome capturé. Cependant, la marée descendante serait éviter que le carburant et les munitions nécessaires pour ces avions d'être livré jusqu'à ce que le matin du 11 Novembre par l'USS Contessa.
    "intelligence_string" = Pour descendre du Chenango intacte, utilisez pleins volets et WEP, et appliquer jusqu'à l'ascenseur avant de quitter le pont. Une fois en vol, vous dirigez vers le sud-sud-est vers la côte, puis la côte parallèles pour couvrir la flotte d'invasion sur le chemin de l'aérodrome. Ne soyez pas trop décontracté sur la zone, Vichy combattants et bombardiers français sont toujours actifs dans la région. Assurez-vous d'obtenir ces Warhawks à Port Lyautey aérodrome en un seul morceau!
    "player_aircraft_name_string" = FDG2_P-40E Kittyhawk
    "airfield_string" = "Chenango CVE-28"

    Hello again,

    There were two issues I found with this mission...

    1) Getting the P-40e Warhawk off the carrier deck intact requires full flaps, WEP, and slow flap retraction.

    2) I may need a 33rd Fighter Group skin for the FDG2 P-40e Warhawk.

    I already have all the other missions except for the Gibraltar parachute mission prepped for easy completion.

    La mission sur mon ordinateur donne ça !
    Je crois que ce P40E appartenait bien au 33 FG embarqué sur le porte avions Chenango

    Pour la mission ou se trouve le problème , vous n'avez pas les parachutistes ?

  12. #37
    They should be Merlin engine P-40F's.

    Use KM P40Fv1, & configure aircraft & Chenango to use catapult launch with Tango's catapult gauge. See source http://raf-112-squadron.org/33rd_fg.html

    Good afternoon,

    For the US Navy missions, I used the USS Ranger for carrier takeoffs using the SBD and TBF. The Wildcat can get off the escort deck without a problem, but the FDGv2 P-40e proved a little tougher.

    UncleTgt,

    I was wondering about that. Some of the sources I had maintained it was the P-40e Warhawk that was used off the decks, while it was always my understanding that the "F" model was used.

    Dombral,

    Yes, I am having some issues with that mission, but it's not the paratroopers. It's the historical accuracy. But I have other things I need to focus on at the moment. I will answer when I return home in a few hours.

    Good afternoon,

    I was able to get the P-40f Warhawk off the USS Ranger without a catapult, and without flaps, as long as I moved the takeoff point from -50 to -110.

    Rams,
    If you remember the Tuskegee Airmen first campaign were carrier take offs.

    KM-P40F I believe, full WEP and only applied one flap at the conning tower.

    Icon22 A little spring cleaning...

    Hey guys,

    In addition to a couple of auto-installer campaigns and the revised Oldenburg airbase, you may notice today that some old downloads are new again. I have included some updates for the Bari and La Spezia packages for Tobob, with now include seaplane takeoff points and airbase.dat entries by kdriver.

    I will also update my Mission Builder layout package as well as the ETO and MTO support packages, as well as the ETO ports package, to include some new factories and other creations over the past couple of years. I will try to include as many objects as I can (similar to Oldenburg) to cut down your workload.

    Stuart and others,

    Shuffling through my files, I found additional layouts for an aircraft factory at Bristol, Woolston, and a combined wooded rail and rail yard layout. I also took the opportunity to divide the actual buildings from the vehicles and anti-aircraft guns, if I have used that layout in a mission. Such files will have the name of the original layout, with the addition of an underscore and the letter "a."

    The package has been updated for the final time, so I hope you enjoy.

    Another one in the books...

    Hey guys,

    I've been working off and on with this for some time, but I finished another MTO scenery overhaul. This is Algiers. Building this was tricky, because I chose to work without creating a flatten, so placing large buildings in the hills was very tricky, and at times maddening. Nothing is more of an eyesore than "suspended animation" buildings.

    We are getting very close to completion with Alexandria, Bone, Bejaia, Frejus-Saint-Raphael, Imperia, Savona, Toulon, Genoa, Porto Maurizio, Safi, Trieste, Tunis, Tripoli, Tobruk, Benghazi, Palermo, Derna, Venice, and Marghera all completed.

    Icon22 Exclusively for Roxanne-21...

    Roxanne,

    After I finish with Naples tonight, on Thursday and Friday I will be building another GSL harbor for the North African / Mediterranean theatre, this time at Djibouti. Can you please provide as much information between now and then as to what the harbor and city might have looked like during the brief battles there?

    Thanks in advance.

    Question Hi Rami

    Hi Rami

    With regard to Naples.

    Can you include a 'picture' of that varmint that stole my friend's bag (with our passports) in 1987, out of our car, while we were stuck in traffic, he was on a motor bike.

    Cheers,

    Stuart

    This might be a bit ambitious, but let me see what I can do for you...

    Here are a bunch of pictures of what Djibouti looked like in the mid-1930s era :
    http://www.haju68.comoj.com/P-Anciennes-4.html
    I don't know if there were much differences between then and the 1940s era...

    I will try to ask some friends if they have more information.

    EDIT :
    Here is another picture, with the governor's house on top : http://images-02.delcampe-static.net...28/741_001.jpg

    EDIT 2 :
    Here is a video from 1942, in which you can see the harbor of Djibouti :
