Cool AH Grumman F3F-2 Package info

With Baz's permission, I will upload in a few days the Aeroplane Heaven F3F-2 with some minor fixes and updated soundset I currently use in the videos. Stay tune! TF

That would be nice to have all the files needed for installation in one package and not have to add other "corrective" files in order to bring it up to speed.

Texture 6 (Trainer) is only texture with yellow prop tips. If you look at each livery, file AHF3F_ULWing_t.bmp, you will see a red/white/blue painted prop blade except for texture 6.

Another issue is the tail wheel sinks a bit on the runway.

Yep, checked those the other day and found as you did the #6 has the yellow tip. All the rest have the red/white/blue color tips. Just need to create that one!

Same here and still fly the Barrel in both FSX/LM sims. Robert Sanderson's Boeing Stearman 75 is the other vintage model gets some flying hours in both.

    Remarkable models for there time!

Some sound work thus far, cleaning up the sound folder and reworked the startup/shutdown sounds, dabbling with the sound cones too.

Will switch to FSX to continue the progress.

In the Aircraft.cfg change #3 from -1.55 to -1.70 to raise the tail wheel.

Thank you Tufun - I'm another who'll be glad to have everything together.

    Hi Butch,
I still see NO pictures, but "black little squares", I don't know if it is a my problem......
However the problem with contact points is solved.

    Hi Friends,

This was the tailwheel position in my FSX with my initially suggested contact point (1.55) :

I changed the tailwheel contact point as suggested (1.70) with this result :

Name:	170.jpg
Views:	0
Size:	65.1 KB

Then I refined just a little (1.57) my initial contact point :

Is it possible different FSX installations to have different runways elevations ?

  12. #12
The scenery I used was Orbx KORS. I will try a default scenery and check and maybe (-1.57) is the right number.

    Hi TF,
I was on KNQX (Key West NAS) and the scenery is Orbx World + Vector, I just tested the plane on Orbx KORS and the results are the same.
    Do P3D uses a different elevation ?

  14. #14
    Hi Manuele,

Your setting of 1.57 seems to work for me! I was using default FSXA airport.
    Thanks

    Great video TF
Like the sounds so far, the sounds cones will really be a plus when completed.

Very possibly we do. I was at a custom airport I did, in Orbx Global/Vector and after several adjustments the settings were:
    Tailwheel=-1.65
    Mains=-5.28

    Falcon,

I Used your tailwheel settings and it looks even better when using default FSXA airports.

Which ones are the mains? Which one do I change? Thanks

Blue is the tailwheel and red are the mains. Also, these might visually change depending on your fuel weight. At half fuel or less mine are off the tarmac, so a happy medium might be needed here.

I am working up a package with all of my repaints of the initial AH textures, plus propwashes for the red, white, blue tip and aluminum prop and for the black prop with yellow tips. Tom Dement and I also worked up a better sound package and aircraft.cfg. I shall include these also. The prop washes look splendid in old FS9, but have to be muted with a darker Alpha for FSX, ergo they are not as prominent as in FS9. I have the initial AH package on my Google Drive for all to get. I suggest self-installing the AH F3F package to a temporary folder and manually install from there into FSX. There is a zip gauge package as well, one for FS9 and another for CFS3. Use the one for FS9, but you will need to delete the old Extra 300 Whiskey Compass from that, as it is not recognized by FSX.

Somewhere around and about there is a FSX compatible airfile I did for this plane some rime back for the Robertson Melbourne race.

    Cheers. Tom

Thanks Falcon, was close with -1.70, but this is better plus the mains also.

Thanks Caz, since this package has all the goodies, will upload the original AH Grumman installer here at SOH. Then grab this new package and update the Barrel.

Fantastic... opens the door to great repaints... with all the 1930 squadrons, etc.
    Thanks for the excellent job!

I have the initial package already however, it appears that the link doesn't function, at least for me. Looks like one needs account to log in then maybe get the file.

Thanks for redoing the AH F-3F so that it looks/works better in FSXA and the other sims.
Any plans on edits on the contact points? As you can tell here that we have been looking for that sweet spot where all three wheels sit properly on the deck.
Do you plan on any updates to the cockpit? Switches etc.

Would like to see all the textures with yellow tipped props or at least offer an option.
