Icon22 Mph WD Pepe Blackburn Botha by UncleTgt & Peperez!

A new entry has been added to Add-Ons Library, category CFS 2 Aircraft - British

Description: This a revision of William Dickens Botha for CFS2.

    The aircraft are:
608 sqn RAF - the sole operational squadron
502 sqn RAF - used a few whilst transiting from Ansons to Whitleys
3 School of General Reconnaissance RAF - Trained aircrew for Coastal Command
11 Radio School RAF - flew from Hooton Park, training Coastal aircrew in operating ASV radar

Peperez did a revised airfile & redid the panel.
I did revised dps & added a few repaints.
It also includes a new 100lb antisub bomb (which is probably more deadly than the real one was!)

To install, unzip the download to a temporary location & move/ copy files to the matching folder names inside your chosen CFS 2 install.

    Thanks to:
William Dickens for an unusual aircraft, & the Beaufighter weapons
Peperez for making it a challenge to fly
The Groundcrew for the British weapons, & permission to allow me to butcher their smokefloat to create the 100lb antisub bomb
Kelticheart for the inspiration for the exhaust effects & prop bitmaps
Gavin C for the radar antennae

This is freeware and subject to the usual conditions

    Hi Gaucho,

    Thanks for the compliment.

RE. the Alphasim He115, I'm afraid it isn't me, you're confusing me with Shessi..

    GC 100lb antisub bomb UT.zip

A new entry has been added to Add-Ons Library, category CFS 2 Other Add-Ons

    Description: GB 100lb Anti-sub Bomb

One weapon that is missing in early WW2 is the (useless) British 100lb Antisubmarine bomb.

I thought the Groundcrew BR smoke float was the nearest shape & size for depicting this weapon.

Having got permission, I used Bglanalyze to disassemble the Smokefloat & changed the GUID numbers & material colour from black to a grey-green. I then changed the object size to suit & reassembled & renamed the new weapon as “BR_100lb_antisub.”

To install, unzip the download to a temporary location & move/ copy files to the matching folder names inside your chosen CFS 2 install.

Thanks to - Mathias Pommerien for permission to "butcher" the Groundcrew Smokefloat, which was the basis for this weapon.

This is freeware and subject to the usual conditions

    UncleTgt,

At this rate, I will have to do a Coastal Command installation. Outstanding work!

    Panel redo for the Botha....

Great addition Pepe... great textures Uncle Tgt!

A little redo of the panel for Uncle Tgt, Peperez and Co. new Botha bomber...
The yoke can be used as a pop-up just for looks, as it obscures important instruments in the panel...
the radiator temperature gauge is obviously wrong since this aircraft had radial engines... (will correct this)

    Comments, corrections,etc. welcome...
As usual available to anyone interested...

    Cheers,
    G.

    Stefano,

You won't be saying that after a few circuits she's a real handful to fly. Flying ops after this training on this beast must have seemed like a breeze by comparison

You really confused the heck out of me for a while there gaucho, as the 'Basic 6' weren't all present on the 'Blind Flying Panel'.

??? what are you referring to? Blind flying panel??? Sorry about my ignorance...
    Cheers,
    G.

    Gaucho,

He means the black panel should have 6 dials on it ...

    Oh... I see...

I copied... I think... what was on the panel I re-did... got to look at it...
at any rate, can add them without problem... Thanks for the explanation...
I was confused by the "blind panel" moniker... (shows my ignorance..lol)
actually... distraction.. (so maybe I did omit them..lol) "blind" refers to
instrument flying... I knew that.. but I guess Alzheimer's is gaining ground on me... lol

    G.

PS... CHECKED THE ORIGINAL... here it is... there were only 4 bezels... probably the others pop-up

    Hi Gaucho,

It's the way I drew the panel. The pale grey is the shading for gauges set into the panel, the darker grey/black is the shadow for gauges that sit on the panel.

On the blind flying panel (the very dark grey one), you can clearly see 4 pale grey shadings, plus if you look carefully, 2 almost black shadows for the other 2 gauges. At least on my monitor it's quite clear If you fly the plane in CFS 2, & use the 2D panel view, it is more obvious
Really nice yoke btw, just not sure how to use it as the original is actually a gauge... & gauges are still way above my pay grade.

    About the yoke...

Yes, as a matter of fact, I can see those dark areas distinctly in the panel I redid... (so my panel version still can work as is) I have to see what the gauges are like (if the bezels are a bit crude...I can improve them using the GAUMP2 program...
Something that works for me... I open the bmp section of the gauge file (using the old GAUMP2 little program) send the bmps on it to the editor (PSP) ... and replace them with bmps I create or improved)... the yoke can be done like that too...
I'll check the gauges in your model and see what I can come up with....

I found this picture of the Botha cockpit:
    http://forum.keypublishing.com/attac...1&d=1305553382

It looks to me as if it follows the same arrangement as the Hurricane for the panel.

I sent it to Uncle TGT and he used it to made the new bmp. I'll try to adapt Gaucho's yoke to the gauge.

    Cheers
