Description: Douglas C-47B-35-DK BTS 9Q-CUK "Congo Queen" Serial number: 33445/16697 Owner: Åke Jansson. Commissioned in 1944 by the US Army Air Force. Built in 1945 in Oklahoma City. Delivered June 8, 1945 from the factory in Oklahoma City through Montreal to the Royal Air Force who call this type of aircraft Dakota IV, registration KP227. The plane arrived in England June 22, 1945. On 7 April 1946, transferred the plane to the RCAF, the Canadian Air Force, and arrived in Canada July 20, 1946. On July 30, 1976 was the plane out of service at RCAF. In June 1977 sold the plane to Basler Flight Service External link, opens in a new window in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, USA and registered N99665. The plane then had a total flying time of about 5,900 hours. Ake chose this plane on behalf of his employer Kalicak Construction, St. Louis, Missouri. Planet registered on 8 July 1977. Ake plane flew from St. Louis via Oshkosh, Goose Bay, Narssarssuaq, Bergen and London to Vallentuna. After some time in Sweden was flown it then to Africa. In 1979 the plane went to Ake's possession (Transports Aériens Zaïrois) with registration 9Q-CUK and arrived as such to Vallentuna April 30 In May 2009 the aircraft named "Congo Queen". My repaint shows her as she appeared in 2007 at Hamburg, Germany, EDDH. Thanks to Manfred Jahn and Team for a great model!
