    Looking for Older File...

Can anyone help me locate the original model: B-24 by Reg Allen? From what I understand it's for CFS2.

I've found numerous repaints but have not been able to locate the original model.

    Thank you.

Maybe I can help. The old website, Duxford Legends is gone.

Can you direct me to some of the repaints?
We could get some clues from them possibly.

    Thank You

    Thank you gentlemen.

I've been enjoying some marvelous flying in FSX with these gems:

I continue to expand my collection of CFS2 to FSX conversion -- though I have discovered some challenges when it comes to models that use 'insertable' crews alas.

You mean the crew being attach/linked to Pilot?

I mean that numerous models in CFS2 apparently use the \Models\US_Pilot or \Models\Japanese_Pilot to supply the crew figure in cockpit and I've tried copying the folder, as is, into FSX without success and the models are in MDL2 format and thus can't be converted to FSX with tools I use.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

The pilots are modeled into the .mdl self. None of the CFS2 aircraf use the \Models\US_Pilot or \Models\Ja_Pilot. They are used when you bail out. They show the pilot going from sitting to hanging under the parachut.

The pilot/crews are attached to a dummy called Pilot. Pilot tells CFS2 to not displated the pilot/crews when the aircraft is placed as a static object. It also removes the pilot/crews when they bail out.

    Duh...Thank you.

So, still exploring but I now understand that there is a file; CFS2_Allied_and_Japanese_pilots.zip that includes pilot figures (German, American, Japanese and British). And they do indeed populate the aircraft. Alas, I am still stuck - the models are MDL2 and won't convert to FSX.

Anyone know of a more up-to-date model I could substitute?

Some models lack a pilot so a pilot are added in DP as a un-dropable weapon. That is what the Allied and Japanese pilots.zip is for. I don't know if FSDS supports pilots/crews that can be removed by the game when placed as an static object. I found out by chance that gMax made models do when I attched the pilot body and heat to dummy named Pilot with my F4F-3 WildCat Fish.
