I must be showing my ignorance of Warpac / non-aligned countries' instruments here, but isn't it odd the blue is down and the brown us up? I know Russians do this instrument differently than their Western counterparts - but even there, the colours were brown down blue up, no? Wondering why it'd be different on this plane, notwithstanding it's Czechoslovakian design.
Anyway - it's superb. Lovely in every way. 10/10.

I have some R/W Zlin time logged ... albeit in a Z-526F "Trener Master" , and ever since then I have been fascinated with the company, had some great flights with the FS9 version of the 142, but have to say ... this FSX version is stellar ! Just gave it a first quick test flight. What an absolute blast! This is the second recent freeware aircraft (Manfred's C-47 is the first) that makes it to the top of my list. Now I need to pick up Ant's T-28A for the trifecta...
The Zlin reminds me of the lesson that it's much more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slowly.

Well, I try to follow Carenado/Alabeo's way in the paintkit, therefore I included a full white version to the textures. Maybe it was a little mistake because it is not the easiest way for making repaint, I know... So I thinking about release a Photoshop version with layers. Just please give me a few days.
Yes I know about popularity of this Zlin at your country - that's a reason why I made a Polish paint version.

On my computer I have this kind of problem. But in my case it is because I have firgotten to put ON the inverter switch
Remember also that color convention in this kind of artificial horizon is that brown is the sky and blue is ground. One can find an interresting discussion about this on the following forum

Lovely aircraft! Nice flyer. We have one of the Lycoming engined versions at KSZP.
I am glad to see that PWDT is still active. I have flown their LET-410 and think it is an underappreciated aircraft in the West.
One niggle though... The glass in the instrument panel appears kind of frosty or translucent. Compare the pix of the FS9 panel vs the new FSX panel. The instruments are less legible in the FSX version. Is there a fix or patch for this?

Yes, I was aware of the difference in how the artificial horizon was depicted - it was the colours that confused me.
After checking (Czech-ing?), I see that indeed many Zlin panels show this (blue=earth, brown = sky) ...
But on other models (on this 242, I believe), it's the more Western convention (blue=sky, brown=earth) ...
Wondering if the American-registered ones use the Western A/H instrumentation?
Still, from a pure "ease of use", I'm hard pressed to understand why blue=ground, brown=sky would make sense. Hoping some of our Eastern European colleagues can help understand this ...
Again, not a nitpick with the model - it's clearly accurate to how many, if not most, are done - I just find it interesting.
Had another spin - very enjoyable flight characteristics. Sounds are really immersive too.

Very cool plane! Will definitely spend time with this one, a nice complement to the excellent Sibwings AN-2 and another little peek into a whole world of aviation that's basically still a white spot on my map, BoS and all.
One question: I tried a clean power-on stall just now, keeping the plane straight with rudder as is usual - this resulted in the plane basically falling down tail down/nose-up, no wing drop or nose drop. Fixed easily enough, just lower the nose again and she will recover, but I'm wondering if the real plane does this as well?
I must ask WTF were they thinking when they decided to make brown the sky and blue the ground????
