    F-106 Delta Dart v2

    Snuck in under the radar.

    http://www.robertjamesrichardson.co.uk/page3.html

    The .mdl files have diffenrent compilation dates and the glass and gauge textures seem to have changed.

    Great stuff, also the other models and the sceneries Robert offers on his website. Thanks for the head-up!

    Cheers,

    I have the payware virtavia/alphasim F106. Is this one better?

    The Sea Venom has also gone to V2.

    Same page.

    It's free, so no comparison.

    I downloaded it. Interesting to note that there are no install instructions with it.

    Speaking of "easier to repaint". Are there paints for the 106?

    "Convair F 106A_v2" -> "SimObjects\Airplanes"
    "AIM-4" -> "SimObjects\Misc"
    .fx files -> "Effects"

    Optional:
    Flight files -> C:\Users\[username]\Documents\Flight Simulator X Files
    Traffic file -> Scenery\World\Scenery

    As easy as making toast.

    Not necessarily; I burnt mine the other day, forgetting my kids had played with the "browning" knob ... little brats!

    Great instructions B, and yes, it takes no time at all.

    One thing I noticed - I get a stray, curved funky poly when sitting in the VC, halfway up the panel, clear across from L to R. Anyone else get that? I played with eyepoint (aft/fwd), jacking my viewing position (up/down) and it's always there. Anyone else get this?

    ps: Repaints - 5 that I know of - DaveQ did 2, Fenti did 3. All awesome. Search "F-106" in the library, sort by date (descending) - they're the 5 most recent. The others are the AS/V model repaints. Easy as putting Nutella on said toast ...

    Has the mapping been changed??

    Oh Eric, the Alpha model does have an advantage after all: The two-seater "B".

    Yup. Maybe intentional? (Extra glareshield?)

    Yeah. I get it. I think its a bug? I will say my only (slight) complaint is a personal taste one, and that is I think the bump mapping is a little bit over done. It shows up in the tail pretty pronounced. my preference only, but I would back off that just a smidge. :-)

    Yep....I assume it's a glareshield 'gone wrong' ...
    [another good argument for the 2D .... I removed it from the screencap] ....

    Actually, I think its a bit of the aircraft mdl file crossing over into the vc mdl file. I noted on the city of Jacksonville 1976 scheme the part was dark blue like the outside of the aircraft. Rob would need to fix it on his end.

    One thing I did discover I hadnt noticed before is that Robs bird has a blown bubble clear canopy. The Virtavia model has the overhead split canopy. Cool to have both types. One last nit picker that bugs me... the USAF font isnt correct. Anybody who is repainting can find the correct one by googling "Amarillo USAF" font. Its free and its great. dafont.com has it. I tread very, very gently on freeware quality stuff and am hesitant to make comment. Only to suggest and improve where possible.

    You're right of course. Also I found out from a team refurbishing an F-101B in Coventry UK, that it should be insignia blue, not black, when over ADC Grey. Have a look at some of the repaints.

    Still 'playing' around...
    1680 Panel looks a bit better....gauges are 'right'....warning lights work....2-handed Flightstick done...switchable fuel Q gauge....glass in windows...canopy opens...

    ...always more to do...

    Got it here as well.

    I just went to Robert's website and he has apparently removed the download "click here" box for the F-106, or maybe I'm too stupid to figure it out.

    ejoiner got it right [I think] ...it's a bit of the forward end of the fuse...projecting back into the VC pit.
    Possibly the VC co-ords need to be shuffled back in the model positioning....nothing at all to do with 'views' or eyeline ...

    Meanwhile...added my 'usual' staged AB effect...wing vapor 'glove' etc.....

    Pull over, driver....

    Having some on-going trouble uploading files to my website host over the last few weeks, in the confusion an old model was uploaded.
    Until the problem is resolved the “Six” will be unavailable.
