    Fantastic, many thanks for this.

Thanks Phil... another masterpiece. The Sea Vixen on deck is a beauty... got any plans to develop her into a fully fledged flying model? The best Sea Vixen that's available currently for FSX (as far as I'm aware) is the Skysim one, but unfortunately its a port over so has the usual issues and limitations.

I'd also like to see a native Sea Vixen, although at this stage I'd be happiest if it were Prapar3D native, making use of all that is available in that sim (i.e. with the new radar functions etc.). On that note I'd love to see a fully functional "coal hole" for the Observer.

Anyway, back to the '66 Vic... lovely shots above. Is that a Whitby or Rothsay class frigate I spy on plane guard duty?! I note there appears to be a Leander class frigate in one of your shots over at Flying Stations.

It's quite likely that the static and AI aircraft there aren't native FSX/P3D versions of will be our next two projects once the Firefly is done.

Great news Phil. The Firefly is looking mighty fine so look forward to that's release too.

?? Never noticed any problems. What are they? The Skysim plane is a beauty. Monsterous sound!
Striker, listen, and you listen close: flying a plane is no different than riding a bicycle, just a lot harder to put baseball cards in the spokes.

Looks great. For once I'm looking forward to going home from holiday so I can download it.
Rats - why won't anything work properly first time?

It is a nice model... but the canopy glass against clouds don't look great on my set up, and I was just thinking an FSX native model would have bump maps which I like.

Simply superb, your best boat yet. The plane-guard helo is such a nice touch, as are the escorts.

Nice video and nice screenies DL.

Have been enjoying the last Vic edition. This last in the series looks great. My weapon of choice however is the Sea Vixen. Have the AS Scimitar - bit of a handful - and the freeware (UKMIL??) Bucc but that a bit too much hard work for me! It does, indeed, sink like a "brick" if you aren't paying attention for the smallest time.

Also, having a bit of a USN/USMC carrier op revival with the release of Gary's Midway and also following the unrep thread. With escort ships, oilers, plane guards etc you can get some really good atmosphere, particularly with dawn or dusk settings.

QUESTION: asked the navy vets here this before and think they said the plane guards hovered on the starboard, not the port side of the boat? Anyone have some correct coordinates for this?

Your best boat yet??? SHIP.. Victorious is a SHIP not a BOAT!!

HMS Plymouth is a Type 12M.. Rothesay Class though similar to the Whitby Class (Type 12). HMS Ajax (as depicted) is a first batch Leander and if you use AICarriers with the config supplied.. you'll find HMS Defender out front on picket duty too

Never noticed a problem with the Skysim Sea Vixen. I've always presumed the FSX model was native (I was on the beta team but on the FS9 model.. my then pc couldn't handle FSX). Anyhoo.. no issues with any part of it here. It's always my carrier aircraft of choice too

Incidentally.. I asked Skip about a few more repaints for Ajax (and possibly Plymouth too) and he was very receptive. Plymouth will have to have the funnel number removed (it's modelled) but Ajax should be a quick number/name change.

EDIT: one comment on the guard helicopter.. it seems a bit close on Vic66 but it's generally where it should be.

All the photos and videos I've seen of RN carrier ops have had the plane guard helo on the port side, as in the AICarriers config. Link below to a photo of the old, old Ark launching an F-4 with the Wessex alongside.

How appropriate that the Flying Stations HMS Plymouth should appear just now, as news this week is that the real last survivor of the Falklands War has been hurriedly scrapped in Turkey.

Yes Dave, I was pleasantly surprised too and didn't miss the irony. I wasn't aware it had already reached Turkey but knew it left the UK some weeks ago. At least it will live on (as do the others) in FSX and beyond

Cracking images DL! Very atmospheric! You have really captured the South China Sea Evening there very well.

David, yes a crying shame about the Plymouth, as DaveB pointed out I was also shocked to see it is already in Turkey.... How Plymouth City Council could not fun the funds is beyond me... oh well.

DaveB When I was painting the Escorts I did think that perhaps a paint kit would be in order, I can sort that out no problem, lots of opportunities there.

Yes the RN always had their plane guards flying off the port side of the ship during Flying Stations.

Here are some photos of "40" launching and taking up station just of the port side of the Vic in 1966. 814 Sqn had 8 Wessex 1's on board the Vic, two of which were putting aside for SAR duties.

Glad everyone is enjoying the Vic.

    Cheers,

    Fraser.
