    Icon22 Handley-Page Hampden BETA & development

Been tinkering with the Hampden, going to upload a beta very soon. Need to ask a question though, been so long I've forgotten how to turn the breaking parts on in the .dp file, can someone refresh my memory?

Work still to do includes dp fixing, read-me, beta testing and general finalizing.

    another question....

What is the best way these days to upload repaints, as stand-alone full aircraft or just the textures. I have vague recollections of aircraft folders with multiple textures being 'difficult' with setting up with quick combat. Are all you guys okay with adding your own textures the way you like or should I upload full aircraft for each tex / variation?

One thing is the torpedo version is causing me head-aches, cannot seem to compile a proper LOD torp.

    Hi Jamie,

Firstly I would just upload the full works, all ready to go. Those that are not as experienced will have the lot, and those that want to cut-and-shut to suit can do so.

What's the problem with the torp? Are you saying that you are making an FS9 version with weapons fitted and the torpedo is a problem? Or......

    Cheers

This is very promising - I agree with Shessi; I would just upload for beta testing and the problems (if any) can be ironed out.

    Jamie,

I am completely on board with Sascha and Mark. I am champing at the bit to get her and put her through her paces. Remember, I can always mod and update the pack as the problems get ironed out!

Think I've remembered. We need a caleb flerk style database/sticky thread for a knowledge base in case stuff like that vanishes from the internet. I remember Gnoopey posting how to get the FS2002 SDK to output a native CFS2 model from Gmax, was a SOH crash or two ago, but have been unable to find anything about it since.

    Working away,

    Question

    Jamie,
What's this about the torpedo problem then?

    Mark,

I've used William's Beaufighter torp and adjusted it in FSDS2 to have a nose up attitude, my problem is that when I used Allens method, I get the LOD's wrong, lowest showing first, etc. I don't need an 'exploded' model as in Allen's version, how do I turn a bgl into a weapon? I looked at the mdlc method to no avail. Any ideas welcome.

You can send me the models in BGL format even if that LODs are wrong I should be able to use Model Conveter X to extract each LOD as .3ds that I can use in gMax. Than I can do the export in gMax so the LODs are right.

    Or

You can try using mdlc_190_weap method with my .bat. Get mdlc_190_weap http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforum...49&linkid=6220 than put download this Allen_mdlc_190_weap_bat.zip. Put the files into the mdlc_190_weap folder and read the read me.

This is the method I use for weapons. Allen's batch file works great.

    You may know this already...

Make sure you number your LODs correctly. Start with 100, then 099-001, dont use 99-1. It will go crazy.

    Example:
    Torp_LOD_100
    Torp_LOD_075
    Torp_LOD_050
    Torp_LOD_025
    Torp_LOD_005

If you leave out the zeros it will mess up. I'm not sure how you do LODs in FSDS but that is how I do it for Gmax. Yes, I found out the hard way.

    Allen,
I figured out how to get all of the LODs to export with the 3ds model.

Under options make sure the Importer settings for the SCASMReader has the Create Empty LOD set to False. You then can export all of the LODs at once beacuase you don't get the empty 0. I haven't tried it with moving parts like I did with my static ACs.

Found that the empty LOD error out too. For dumping aircraft it has been best for me to export each LOD by it self as dumping all of the LODs at once make a huge mess.

Sorry folks for being the usual pest!

Yesterday I updated Ted Cook/JTD's Hampden prop disc and I noticed it disappears behind the cockpit canopy.........just to let you know....

    Cheers!

    Hi guys,

I'm still pottering away at this as time permits, no luck with the Torpedo yet, but thanks for the bucket-loads of help. Put it on the back burner until after the vanilla bomber version is done and dusted.

Kelti, I'm aware of the canopy and the antenna and a couple of other small pieces. I cannot find a way to fix that, I tried all I know. They are correctly ordered in the model but I fear the parent/child properties for the breaking parts is having an effect on this. Possibly something else. Rest assured the prop discs are the last parts in the model though.

Very nice Jamie. Just Hannah's and Learoyd's aircraft needed to round it out.
