As many are aware, Hurricane Odile made a direct hit on the Cabo San Lucas area. The following NOTAMS are in effect:

Current NOTAM shows airport closed until 9-22, Navaids may be back today, radar tomorrow?

La Paz airport is also closed (NOTAM says until Sept 22) due to infrastructure issues.

Only a little news is coming out so far as power is out to much of the southern Baja, cell phone and internet service is spotty and a lot of the bandwidth on social media is about tourists' spoiled vacations. While no loss of life has yet been reported, the health and economic impacts could be potentially serious until services and facilities are restored to working condition. While little info is available regarding road conditions, it's possible that fuel, water and food may have to be airlifted in or delivered by sea, at least in the short term.
As usual, with no power, transport stalls from a lack of fuel, food spoils in stores and homes. The bulk of the reporting will be about Cabo San Lucas of course, but this is going to have an effect on 500 miles of the Baja Peninsula.

as of today, the government has launched their ''natural disaster plan'' into the Baja peninsula.

the last news i saw said that the airport was opened only for humanity aid, Mexican Air Force transports and other government aircraft will be operating flights to bring supplies and rescue-support personnell ....then will evacuate tourists to target cities on the mainland such as Tijuana, Mazatlan, Guadalajara or Mexico City.

Humanitary efforts have been initiated also on different states...I live on Monterrey, on a state near the Gulf of Mexico....today, the governor said that will send search and rescue personell from the different government dependencies to support the Baja peninsula, and coordinate with the Mexican Red Cross to collect first aid supplies such as medicines, bottled water, canned food, etc. and send them to the affected areas.
