We're in the front row, blue seats...

    Had to share this.

The wife and I attended the 2014 SkyFair two weeks ago. In addition to aircraft from Paul Allen's Flying Heritage collection, there were aircraft from the Flying Heritage Foundation and the Planes of Fame.

    Enjoy

How did I miss this! Crub, do they do this as an annual event? Looks like a great time!

IMHO a superior vid. I appreciate the ambient sounds with no play-by-play. It's only drawback, not long enough

Really wish I could have been there - I was stunned by the first images that came out showing the formation passes with the FHC B-25, Il-2, Spitfire, Bf-109, and P-51D all flying together - they have such an amazing collection of diverse aircraft. This was the first year of what will be an annual event, just prior to "Seafair".

Here are some more videos from Skyfair:

    FHC's B-2J5, Il-2, Spitfire Mk.V, Bf-109E, and P-51D: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bQq4KSQpNvY
    HFF's Tigercat and P-51B: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lLZ-TmSnE_0
    POF's F4U-1A and P-38J: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RAgfea_r4n4
    HFF's L-4 and FHC's Storch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_3Eu2lPdStg

Speaking of the Flying Heritage Collection, they have a P-38J under restoration at Westpac and a de Havilland Mosquito under restoration at Avspecs - both active projects. They have several other very slow restoration projects (all to airworthy), at least some of which are currently halted/stored, including a combat-vet FG-1D Corsair (used to be owned/flown by Ed Shipley), an original Me-262 w/ original engines (used to be owned by Howard Hughes, then Ed Maloney and the Planes of Fame Air Museum), the only surviving Fw-189, a Spanish-built Heinkel He-111 which was/is intended to be re-engined with original German DB engines and cowls, a B-17E, a couple more Zero's (recently exhibited - no work has been done on these), an F-86A, an F-84G, a couple F-8 Crusaders, and a couple Mig-21's. It is also largely rumored that they have a Ju-87 Stuka under restoration to airworthy, likely being done in Russia by the same company that did the Il-2 restoration.
