The easiest way is to delete these files and use the Ventnor scenery contained in William Renwick's "Chainhome" package found in the CFS 2 Scenery section. His rendition of Ventnor has the radar station placed more or less in the correct position inland but unfortunately not on the highest ground.

It appears that the Ventnor scenery came with the CFS2BoB manual install by Gary Burns. Would I simply remove the BGL's from the SCENEDB\CFS2BoB\scenery folder and the England-Ventnor.GSL file from the GSL folder?

OK answered my own question by just giving it a try. Worked great. At least the Stukas can now bomb it without crashing into the cliffs LOL Thanks Kdriver!

    486_Col_Wolf,

I know someone moved this, it was discussed during the BoB campaign. Let me comb through my files and look for you. Sorry I didn't answer this thread earlier today.

Thanks Rami. If there is a way to move it closer to the edge of the cliff without a flatten that would be great. By the way, has anyone ever fixed the "Flying Cliffs of Dover"?

    Ken,

As I recall, it was moved back on top of the cliff. I'm still looking through my files.

    Ventnor fixed

You got me interested Pete. I did a bit more research and decided to make a more accurate depiction of Ventnor using both the renditions by Gary Burns and William Renwick. The scenery is now compatible with Rhumbaflappy's mesh.

I moved William's scenery to the correct location, rearranged the transmitter and receiver towers and added some destructible buildings to get as it close as possible to its appearance at the beginning of the Battle of Britain. I moved Gary's scenery to Lowtherville, the location of the barracks in the valley about a mile to the west of the Chain Home station. I removed the miniature CFS 1 radar towers and added some more barracks to that scenery.

    Here are the results.

    Splendid!

Your fix works like a charm kdriver.

Kdriver, do I need to remove the William Renwick's "Chainhome" package to install this new Ventnor file?

Just delete the files called "Ventnor.bgl" and "Ventnor_A16N.bgl" in both William Renwick's "Chainhome" and Gary Burns' "BoB Manual Install" package and replace with my modified bgl's. In addition replace "England-Ventnor.gsl" in the Burns package with mine using GSLMan.exe.

Don't delete the textures from the original packages as they are still used. Note that the texture called "radar.bmp" in the Gary Burns package conflicts with another quite different texture with the same name by another author. Therefore keep Gary's "radar.bmp" in the texture folder associated with the scenery folder containing Ventnor and the other chain home RDF stations.

The radar towers are not destructible but all the other buildings are. Pen32Win made a destructible chain home transmitter tower but I preferred to keep William Renwick's ones. Ventnor was the only radar station attacked and temporarily put out of action. I don't think the towers were brought down.

    Kevin,

Thank you. This is CFS2 catch-up day for me, and I will use this to update both my files and my missions.

Thanks and you're welcome Andrew, Col_Wolf, Worthless and Robert John.

Andrew, feel free to add this fix to your ETO ports/targets/infrastructure package, acknowledging, as I know you will, the original work was done by Gary Burns and William Renwick. The more addons consolidated into fewer packages the better.

Likewise RJ - there was a lot of good stuff in that issue and I missed it - thanks very much - a great improvement.

Issue 4 of Robert John's magazine Andrew. Perhaps another one which needs to be uploaded to a scenery package?

It wouldn't hurt if the texture could be amended to make the cliffs actually look white.

I couldn't find any bluebirds so I had to settle for geese.

I still have Martin,s cliff,s installed , and they look ok , but you can fly through em , So I guess I, asking , if Robert,s are crash enabled , or is that too big a hit on FPS , Goes back to the movie Steve McQueen B-17 approach on 2 engines
