    Lindsay Watt trees

Please clear up for me all the trees in the objects files created by him--MR Trees, LW trees, lw_tree_library, etc.. Are they all different or has one replaced the other?

    Hi Highpockets,

there's a difference. Lindsay released 4 tree libraries, if my memory serves me right. The last one was released through his website, which he called "Pro" or "high res".

The difference consists in their framerate performance, which becomes progressively heavier with every new release. While it is true that I still run CFS2 on a 10-year old pc, when you fly escort in one of those airport-busting missions with various objects on the ground, AI bombers and AI foes attacking them, you and your flight defending the bombers, AA in the air plus explosions on the ground, let alone if some of the aircrafts involved are not multi-res, I discovered a while ago that those trees in the scenery do make a lot of difference!!

When I do GSL work I only use his earlier tree lib, the one released by Mask Rider with his early PTO sceneries. Those trees are still nice-looking from altitude, even at close distance, yet they slow down animation very little. Although I downloaded Lindsay's latest "hi-res" tree library for my CFS2 addon collection, given my previous experiences, I never attempted to install it.

    Cheers!

Thanks for the input. I am aware of the two resolutions in LW trees and am using the higher one. Not sure how much it affects my sim. I have a dual core 2.4 GHZ with 2GB ram and a NVidia GeForce 6600. Now I will know what to look for in some of my missions as I fly.
