    Fox4 Korea

I looked at this to see how much work there would be to use the new airbases by Shawdow Wolf. Mainly you need to move the infrastructures around to fit the bases. In my setup the player plane takes off from the correct base in the new scenery.

Hopefully someone will take on this task and do it for all to enjoy.

    Talon,

we are just talking about the GSL correct. Do the missions need to be edited?

Maybe I can draft Kelti to give a hand. He should be back soon.

I have the new install with just the FF4KW. It will give me some practice before I tackle my WWI again.

    Anyone else interested?

It has nothing to do with GSL,it's the infrastructures that were used in the mission. All you have to do is click on them and move them or remove what you don't need.Example=some trucks are on the runway need to be moved/another is the extra hangers can be removed.

So that would be in the missions them selves. Which means opening the missions in MB, editing them, saving as a new mission then coping and pasting the edited text to the original. This way we don't corrupt the hand edits that Tango did.

Not too hard but time consuming.

Yes time consumming. That's why I don't think any of the Korea lovers will do it.

I vowed I would not do anymore Korea work because of a couple members in here. That leaves me out of doing it.

You do realize how many missions there are? Well I'll see what I can do.

So which set first? I guess I'll start at the begining. "The Hunters". Though I actually like the "Ocean Fury" better.

Should I ask Tango for perms?

    John,

Do you ever wonder how I learned how to work on missions? It's by doing exactly what you are about to do now. I learned from updating the works of others before I ever learned about Cody Coyote's guide. At first it was just airbase and infrastructure updates, and it gradually evolved from there.

Just don't follow my lead in one respect...use Talon's effective approach and keep them simple. It will make the process much easier for you. Unfortunately, many of my missions have become infamous for their overcomplexity. When the 20th Fighter Group comes out, crack open them in Mission Builder, and hold on for dear life!

Also, one other thing comes to mind. Shadow Wolf 07 is a mission writer as well. Given he had a major stake in the airfields, I have a couple of thoughts.

    1) He might certainly be able to help you with rearranging the infrastructure.

    2) He also might be willing to help you update / re-write the missions.

I'm not volunteering him, but I'm sure if you hopped on Skype and asked him directly, (or shot him a PM) it might initiate a discussion.

Have you looked at my Duel of Aces Mission? The one with Udet will be just as involved. Mostly setting the event triggers and scondary events and sound event. Plus all of the Mission Fail criteria. Thats probably why I've been dragging my feet on my Belgian Campaign. I went too big. You get rapped up in telling the story sometimes.

So this won't be too bad. I'm not rewriting it. At least I'm not planing on it. Lets hope that comment doesn't come back to haunt me.

There some where in the area of 100 missions,a wslk in the park.

What I would do is take out the infrastructures on the base and redo them the way you want them.Next make a layout file of what you've done and use it again each time you use that base.It saves alot of time.

For Bunker Hill there isn't as much work because you're by the carrier most of the time.I think there is only 1 or 2 land base missions. In the" Roastin Refinery" mission I tookout the structures that were there and put in a Refinery.Just a suggestion.

Today there are newer and better infrastructure you can use to update.

    Another suggestion.

If you do the Hunters first you should use the F-86A at first. They slowly switched to the E model and so they both flew together in Squadrons.

    And of course have fun.

    Hi guys!

What Talon has proposed above is merely rearranging the Mission Builder placed infrastructure layouts, again, not the GSL. The bases as I made them are packed with GSL infrastructure and trees. All that is needed are AA guns, and maybe some oil drums, crates and vehicles. Much more may cause frame rate issues. I would recommend highlighting all the MB infrastructure objects in Mission Builder and deleting them, then place and orient your own AAA (there are plenty of GSL gun positions) and other objects.

    Well Blood,

Just to let you know how easy it is update "The Hunter" missions,I updated 14 of them in a few hours last night.I had to change 1 airbase in a mission because it was not redone by Shadow Wolf. Some things were changed also to make them more realistic.

All missions for "The Hunters" are done. About 4 hours of work, not to bad.

I actually redid the Bunker Hill campaign with the new scenery months ago.Only a few missions had to be redone.I just added a few things for more enjoyment. One of the things I di was have a flight of Pnthers takeoff in front me.You have to be care you done crash into before they takeoff.I did the same with the Sabers.Makes it more fun.

In the Seafury campaign there's about 5 mission that need some changes because they are land based missions

The campaign for the Migs needs the most work. You have to use the bases north of the Yalu River. In the new scenery there are 4 bases there that they flew from.

Also remember the more mission infrastures ( planes)the lower the fps are.The Korea planes are frame killers.

Hope you are able to do them Blood_Hawk and have fun while doing them.

    It's Mokpo
    base_lat=N34 45.26
    base_lon=E126 23.46
    base_alt=28

    Used in 2 Saber missions.

Have you a runway orientation, length and surface type? Or should I just wing it?

In the Red Star Mig campaign if you use Bismarck13 AI B-29 the fps are 3 to 4 times better.Oldwheat also did a Korea texture for it.

    SW_Korea-Bases_Mokpo.zip

A new entry has been added to Add-Ons Library, category CFS 2 Scenery Add-Ons

Description: Mokpo is a GSL airbase in South Korea to be used with a Korean install. It was pointed out that this base was missing in the previously released set with 22 Korean airfields - my SW_Korea-Bases. If you have that earlier release installed, you won't need any other downloads to make this base work. to simplify installation, experienced users can easily ad this base to the original SW_Korea-Bases. Enjoy!

To check it out, rate it or add comments, visit SW_Korea-Bases_Mokpo.zip
The comments you make there will appear in the posts below.

    Shadow Wolf 07,

Do you want me to include this in the Korean airfields package and bump it back up to the front of the library?

    Shadow Wolf,

    Please check me...

    http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforum...id=45&id=17689

    SW Korea Bases

This scenery pack contains 23 redone bases with 26 runways in Manchuria, North Korea and South Korea circa 1950-52

These bases were created using the visual layout and airbase.dat info of the “Fox Four” team’s work. http://simviation.com//lair/cfs2kmain1.htm IE: some are concrete and some dirt runways. Some are located in Manchuria and North Korea, but most are in South Korea. (More data about locations of additional N. Korean bases would be welcome.) Some are in forests, some bases are in urban areas and some are in clear or partially clear terrain.

    By Shadow Wolf 07

Note: This package was modified at the creator's request on July 21st, 2014 to include the "Mokpo" airfield. The .bgl & texture files have been added to the appropriate folders.

The GSL entry is now included in the "Korea" GSL file, and the airbase.dat entry is included in the main file.

No other modifications have been made. All rights, permissions, and other legal matters defer to the original uploader; Shadow Wolf 07.

Thanks, the only things I see are that the GSLMan.exe is missing and the new Korea.gsl is smaller than the old Korea.gsl. All else looks good.
