    Aircraft CFG

    Hi everyone,

I've used Gmax to construct my aircrafts model, however the information made available is very limited when it comes to surface areas etc.
I know the wing area, wing span and the span of the tail however, the aircraft.cfg and the aircraft.air file both require almost every area one can physically calculate on the aircraft.

In GMAX, is there any way I can calculate the area of the tail plane, vertical stabiliser, aileron, flap, elevator etc? or must i measure each individual component and calculate the area myself?

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Matt.

    Hey Matt,

    Check your PMs.

So what aircraft have you made?

Depending on the aircraft involved many of the parameters can be found from reference materials such a pilot or Mx handbooks or for WWII US fighters from books such as "America's Hundred Thousand". As flight dynamics are largely controlled by "fudge factors" applied close estimations often work closely enough. Much flight test is necessary for final tuning.

    Good Luck! Tom
