Hello everyone,

I would like to bring your attention to a monthly magazine named LE FANATIQUE DE L'AVATION, published in Paris.
I have a few old issues from when I lived there--I think around 130 issues--must check.
The magazine is known among enthusiasts as "le Fana". Its covers--many of them--were painted by an official French Air Force painter named
Paul Lengellé.
I attach a pdf file that is an index and shows the contents of 500 plus issues and also the cover of issue 53--a painting by Lengellé..
If you find issues or bound volumes in junk stores or antique bookshops, have a closer look...

I forgot to say that you should take a close look at the contents of the pdf file--they are in alphabetical order.
It will give you some idea of the richness of the articles, photos, illustrations etc. Save it somewhere safe and find info you need, let me know and I can try ang get the pages scanned for you as Roger has all the issues from no.1 to today...

Whilst on the subject of French aviation magazines, might I recommend "Avions" and "Batailles Aeriennes" - good quality production - off the beaten track topics - good profiles etc etc.

Batailles Aeriennes currently running a series about the RAF in France in 1939/40 - first issue on Fairey Battle sqdns, second the first of two issues on Hurricanes - jolly good for brushing up on schoolboy French !

Seems the Anglo-Saxons are not that much interested in good documentation--at least in this forum here.

I may have posted about the Fana in the wrong forum and site--not sure.

Excellent find.

My French is very poor. Even though my family is French Canadian and I took one year of French in High School. I guess something not used is forgotten. I do know enough to muddle through.

Le Fana has plenty of WWI and so does another magazine, "Avions". I will see what I can fish up for you.

The thrid link has data on the aerodromes.

The site is devoted to that period and if you start from the top and try all the sublinks and the links within them you will find lots of stuff of interest.
I cam upon this site while looking for a good image of the "chimera for a repaint I am doing.
I found some and I attach one here.

I will find you more links. I have the advantage of speaking and writing French and can google in French.

Je vois avec plaisir que SOH s'intéresse beaucoup en ce moment à l'aviation française . Bien sur je lis régulièrement les revues le fana de l'aviation avions et batailles aériennes qui m'apportent pas mal d'inspirations .
Je me suis intéressé à la campagne de Syrie aprés la sortie de la campagne opération Exporter par Skylane et j'ai rajouté quelques skins pour les avions français de la campagne .

A ce propos nous avons toujours besoin d'un Potez 63II digne de cet avion essentiel pour l'armée de l'air 1939 43

C'est grace a mes repeints recents que beaucoup de gents sont interesses. Au debut ils etaient hesitants a cause du nouveau de types and marquages and mon but etait creer un interet. J' ai reussi.

En ce qui concerne tes avions dans ton poste, ce sera plus tard, parce ce qu je pense que les annees trentes sont mal-representes and je vais continuer dans cette periode. Plus tard, bien sur...

It's the Potez 25 by Baldy. It has a skin by Dombral on it but you can get the model with a different livery here

Le Pz63II a bien été fait pour CFS1 au départ mais par Alain Breton (Bretoal pour SOH) Il est bien réalisé mais il fait trop son age et il présente des défauts d'affichage plutot désagréable :changement d'échelle et disparition des armes et mitrailleur au décollage . . Aussi j'attends toujours un bon Pz63II .

A part cela comment ça va à Djibouti ? depuis mon séjour à l'hopital Peltier en 1978 82 ça a du pas mal changé .

Pour le Pz25 de Baldy j'ai quelques skins en réserve (Madagascar Djibouti Indochine)

Oui, en effet, ça a changé. Pas forcément en mieux, d'ailleur. Vivre ici est simplement usant, non seulement à cause du climat, mais et surtout à cause de la mentalité du pays. Les gens d'ici ne connaissent pas le long terme (= plus de 2 jours), ce qui est très difficile à gérer dans ma branche d'activité. Ils veulent tout sur l'instant, et préfèrent t'arnaquer tout de suite de 10 000 Francs Djiboutiens (environ 40 €) plutôt que d'être honnête et de s'en assurer 200 000 de plus sur une plus longue période. En fait, ce pays peut se résumer ainsi : une arnaque à tous les niveaux, de l'homme de la rue jusqu'au plus haut de l'Etat, en passant par toutes les entreprises et administrations (seul le nombre de 0 change). Je ne comprends toujours pas comment j'ai pu passer 3 ans ici sans plonger pour coups et blessures !

merci pour ces nouvelles de Djibouti . Dommage j'avis beaucoup aimé ce séjour en particulier les sorties en bateau ,peche et plongée .
A part cela je cherche quelqun pour me traduire des missions et campagnes intéressant l'armée de l'air en 1939 1943 avec les skins qui vont avec . Qu'en pensez vous?

Oh, si c'est juste pour la plage, le bateau et la plongée, alors oui c'est un pays merveilleux ! Il faut juste éviter d'y travailler !

Pour les traductions, tu voudrais juste la traduction anglais-français des textes descriptifs, ou plus ? S'il s'agit seulement des textes, je peux aider (mais pas avant dans 15 jours, le temps de revenir d'un petit break).

heureusement que la mer est toujours la à Djibouti . Nos conditions de travail par contre étaient très différentes au bon vieux temps .

Pour les traductions c'est l'invers : j'ai besoin d'un traducteur Français-Anglais pour mes missions ce ue je suis incapable de faire .

Pour jinx: le biplan est bien le Pz25 de Baldy et je vais l'uploader avec les autres avions français de la campagne de Syrie.

Visiblement, le D520 de tes captures d'écran est celui de Jean-Marie Mermaz. Il est superbe, mais je crois me souvenir que son modèle n'est pas "multi-LOD", et que par conséquent la fluidité du jeux en souffre dès qu'il y en a plusieurs en vol.

Quel avion conseilles-tu pour le H-75 ? A ma connaissance, il y a deux options, celui de Doug Westfall et Anthony Sullenger (qui me semble dater un peu) et celui du FDG (mais qui est en fait un P-36A, donc pas la bonne version).

Et quel MS406 utilises-tu ? Celui de tes captures d'écran semble différent de celui de Thicko, et ça ne peut quand même pas être celui de Jean-Marie Mermaz pour CFS1...
