Tim Conrad Saab J-29 (the FSX upgrade)

I installed Tim (“Piglet”) Conrad's FSX Saab J-29 jet. This was originally an FS9 plane, but he updated it for FSX, and it's available here under the “Other Warbirds” section of the FSX library. After installation, it shows up in the aircraft selection list, and when selected the rotating model appears as expected. But, when “fly now” I get no visible model. No interior and no exterior, although the plane does seem to have loaded. I have sounds and 2d panels. Anyone seen this before? Everything looks in order, best I can tell, including references to both interior and exterior models.

I had exactly the same problem...

It's because, for some reason, although the interior model is FSX native, the exterior model is still FS9. If you edit the model.cfg in the model folder to remove the entry for the interior, then the model will show up, but there seem to be some missing textures as well. May as well just use the original FS9 version.

Seems there are different packs on the web, I have a proper one which has FSX native exterior & interior MDL files but can't remember where I got it from. If you want it, PM me.

    cheers, Henk.

    Thanks Dave, that worked.

Thanks Henk. I just needed to research something about this model. In this case I think it does make sense to test it in FS9, given that it's basically an FS9 plane.

    Fun plane to mess with....
Never a fan of a 2D panel that's just a scattering of gauges...ie...without a panel view... so am in the midst of modding one from the VC ...
