    Help-Metal Textures

I've never had too much trouble painting textures, except with regard to metal. I've been working on the texture below, and it isn't completed (obviously), but I've been working on the metal, and it seems no matter how I adjust my base, spec, and alpha, I just end up with something that looks like shiny gray, instead of "metal." Does anyone have any hints on how to get the metallic look?

For those who don't know, this is Piglet's J7W1.

    Thanks

You really need Bomber_12th or gman250 help. IMHO they are the masters of aluminum.

Is this anything like the look you are searching for:

Yeah, like that and like Bomber 12th's dull aluminum look as well. I know part of the problem is I'm not getting the reflections from the surroundings right. I could add blue highlights, but I didn't know if there is a way to get that without painting it on.

Look for Bob Rivera alternative envmap package, which contains the new, more colorful envmap and a new chrome effet. These two files will make the metal look more like real chrome metal.
