I hate to play devi'ls advocate...but were they flying through the night? That seems like it would be a toll on the mind/body... I mean if there was a fuel issue, then most likely time of day was probably not a factor, but if it is one thing I have learned from being around aviation and with dad getting his LSA, it's that you do not put yourself into potentially dangerous situations i.e. weather, time of day, etc....

Since the crash occurred at around 4am, it is quite likely that fatigue did play a factor in this accident.
