Description: Bristol Blenheim Mk IVF Z5722 WM-Z, Wg Cdr Max Aitken, O.C. No.68 Sqn, High Ercall, April 1941

Possibly the best-known of all night fighter Blenheims, Z5722 was the personal aircraft of Wg Cdr Hon. Maxwell Aitken, the son of the Canadian newspaper magnate Lord Beaverbrook, who was at the time the Minister of Aircraft Production.

Wg Cdr Aitken commanded No.68 Sqn from February 1941 until January 1943, claiming 4 kills out of his final score of 14 and one shared, during this time. Despite the arrival at 68 Sqn of the Beaufighter MkI in May 1941, Aitken kept Z5722 until its destruction in a crash at the hands of another pilot on 6th June 1942. Z5722 was equipped with AI MkIII, although this model does not have the antennae.

The restored Blenheim/Bolingbroke G-BPIV based at Duxford wore this livery in 1995.
