Crash course on building a website

Hey guys, I'm the deputy commander for my Civil Air Patrol unit and I've taken it upon myself to start up a website for us.

Now, I know I need a domain name and hosting but aside from that I have no clue.

If you guys have any hosting and/or domain names suggestion or things I'm missing, I'd really appreciate the help.

    Whitehawk,
You can also dig up so decent info on site building with some Google searching.
I spend a bit of time browsing around this site, http://www.webdeveloper.com/ for ideas.

Ickie's suggestion of Frontpage is a good one and a pretty good industry standard.
I use macromedia Dreamweaver when I'm in Windows, but have used Bluefish and Nvu in Linux for several years. Nvu is now discontinued, but the Composer in Mozilla Seamonkey is nearly identical and both are open-source...free.
Arachnophilia is a freeware HTML editor that looks pretty decent but I haven't tried it. http://www.arachnoid.com/arachnophilia/
    http://www.seamonkey-project.org/ (Mozilla Seamonkey Composer)

    Good luck!
